How To: Contour

The art of contouring, like any make-up look, requires some know-how and practice. Whether it’s your first time or you’re simply trying to hone your craft, here are easy guides and video tutorials to achieve that naturally sculpted look. Become an expert on how to contour and highlight the face. Nude by Nature’s NEW Contour & Highlight Collection features 2 contouring options: Contour Fluid Trio ($39.95) and Contour Palette ($39.95). If you’re not sure which product is right for you, our first tip is to consider your skin type. If you have oily skin, using powder-based contouring products such as our Contour Palette will help add depth and definition to your face while controlling oil and shine. If you have dry skin, we recommend using a lightweight, liquid-based product such as our Contour Fluid Trio to hydrate and contour simultaneously. SHOP THE COLLECTION After selecting your contour product of choice, start with a fresh clean face and prime your skin with Airbrush Mineral Primer. The primer extends make-up wear and smooths the skin to create an even, luminous base for make-up application. The next step involves applying your desired foundation and/or concealer before contouring. This step is optional and dependant on what look you would like to achieve. For an every-day look, simply apply the BB 5-in-1 Miracle Cream or a lightweight foundation such as the Liquid Mineral Foundation or Natural Mineral Cover. If you’re after a full coverage look use the Pressed Mineral Cover and conceal any dark spots or blemishes using the Liquid Mineral Concealer. How To Contour Using The Contour Fluid Trio The Contour Fluid Trio are three shades in a fine fluid texture which melts into the skin to create a soft, dewy finish. For best results, we recommend using the Pointed Precision Brush for application. SHOP CONTOUR FLUID TRIO How To Contour Using The Contour Palette The Contour Palette has 3 matte shades to create depth and dimension that is buildable from a natural finish to a deeper intensity look. For best results, we recommend using the Ultimate Perfecting Brush for application. SHOP CONTOUR PALETTE Once you’re happy with your look, lightly brush a finishing powder such as our Mineral Veil or Pressed Mattifying Mineral Veil all over the face using a Finishing Brush, focusing on the T-zone and under the eyes to finish your look and extend your make-up wear. Our Top 5 Contouring & Highlighting Tips

We are all uniquely beautiful, and we each like to create make-up looks to enhance and define our favourite facial features. In the past couple of years contouring and highlighting make-up products have been much discussed, and the total products available in this category have increased dramatically. It can be said that J-Lo, Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga have each put a big spotlight on looks created using contouring and highlighting products. A quick search of Pinterest reveals multiple examples of each. Each of these make-up terms can be defined as: Contouring Make-up: Is used to add shade and depth to specific areas of the face to sculpt, define and add dimension. Contouring is commonly used on the nose, cheekbones, chin and forehead. Matte, neutral shades are usually used.    Highlighting Make-up: Is used to add dimension, radiance or luminosity to emphasise facial features. Highlighting is also known as strobing. Areas of the face where people frequently use highlighter are the cheekbones, nose, cupids bow, temple and hairline (forehead). Shimmer shades such as rose or champagne are often popular choices. When it comes to top tips for contouring and highlighting we recommend: 1. Use good quality make-up brushes: It may seem obvious, however using the right make-up tool can make all the difference. Our make-up brushes are all made of ultra-soft high-quality synthetic fibres, as we are proudly cruelty-free. We have three specific make-up brushes you can select from; Pointed Precision Brush, Ultimate Perfecting Brush and Contour Brush. Each of these make-up brushes has been created as a tool for creating contouring and highlighting looks. 2. Figure out what suits your face shape best: Contouring and highlighting products need to be applied on different parts of your face, depending on its shape. For example, if you have an oval shaped face, it’s a good idea to contour slightly below your cheekbones, and the sides of your forehead. You can also use a highlighter in the middle of your face; on your forehead and chin if you have an oval shaped face. 3. Textures count: We have a variety of powder, liquid and cream textures that give different effects on the skin and may suit your personal application style better. If you are a person who loves to use your fingers then creams are a better solution, and tend to give a more radiant skin finish that is ideal for dry complexions. Instead the powder foundations are ideal for a more oily complexion. 4. Blend with blush: People often think you place your blush on where you have your bronzer, however if you want to accentuate the cheek its best to contour under the cheekbone, then seamlessly blend the blush on the apple and up to the highlight. It’s a great way to create a flawless and elegant look. 5. Less is more: Contour has evolved since its mass insurgence into the regular beauty world, and has gone from extreme to now being much more wearable and discrete. After you have created the shape you desire, go back and blend out the edges and make it look just like the natural curves of your face. If you’re looking to try a new selection of contouring and highlighting products, we have a collection of 100% naturally derived liquid, powder and cream products. The collection is easy to use and enhances natural contours, to create a flawless natural healthy look. The complete collection is found here on our website. A couple of the products included are detailed below with useful tutorial videos for each: Contour Palette: An easy to use contour palette with three matte shades to sculpt, define and highlight. Blogger Review: Contour & Highlight Collection

Van Anh is the talented fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogger from Chopstick Panorama and was invited by ASOS to review the Nude by Nature Contour & Highlight Collection. Keep reading to see her first impressions and favourites from the collection. The first thing Van noticed about the Nude by Nature collection was the signature rose gold packaging and how the products stood out in her make-up drawer. After familiarising herself with the brand, she soon realised there was more than meets the eye. “Nude by Nature is not just about looks, what really differentiates them from other cosmetic brands is their promise to provide high-performing natural formulas that are 100% cruelty free and PETA certified.” As someone that uses make-up daily, Van prefers make-up products formulated without harmful ingredients which can compromise the skin. This is why Nude by Nature’s unique natural philosophy really resonated with her focus on a good skincare regime. Contour & Highlight Review & Swatches Touch of Glow Highlight Sticks Swatches (Left to Right): Champagne, Rose, Bronze “Highly pigmented, and so easy to apply with the most beautiful radiance. The [Touch of Glow Highlight Stick shade]  Champagne one is my absolute favourite for adding highlight, especially during evenings, while the other shades are great for colour and warmth.” Highlight Palette Swatches (Left to Right): Bronze, Rose, Champagne “I personally prefer stick highlighters because of their pigmentation, but this Highlight Palette is a great alternative to the Touch of Glow Highlight Sticks for those who prefer powder highlight. And sometimes I use the shade Bronze as a blush alternative.” Contour Palette “It’s so easy to contour with this Contour Palette for a matte and naturally contoured face, especially when using the Ultimate Perfecting Brush. The shades are really flattering for light to medium skin tones, I use this palette nearly everyday!” Final Thoughts “I tried out a lot of products and I have to say I pretty much like all of them! If you like natural make-up, you should definitely try out Nude by Nature!“ See Van Anh’s original blog post here.
