Our Pro Brush Collection

One beauty category that we're very well known for is make-up brushes. We're incredibly proud to be Australia's No.1 Brush Brand.* Our Pro Brush Collection. Image courtesy of @sarah.and.co__ Our Pro Brush Collection is a collection of ergonomically designed, cruelty-free premium make-up brushes made of ultra-soft high-quality synthetic fibres.  The collection is perfect for novices to experts, and features different brushes perfect for creating an array of gorgeous looks.  We recently collaborated with a group of professional make-up artists and influencers who shared a few of their favourite looks and tips about the Nude by Nature brushes that they used to create them.   Make-up artist Emma Chen finished this stunning look above with the 15 Blending Brush. Emma mentioned that she loves that our brushes are "super soft and the perfect size and shape." The 15 Blending Brush is designed for powder eyeshadow and features a flat, oval shape which blends eyeshadow colours together and softens any harsh lines for a professional, seamless finish.  If you're after a make-up brush that is perfect for your handbag or to take travelling with you, then our 10 Retractable Travel Brush is the ideal solution! It's suitable for all powder formulas, delivering a beautiful airbrushed finish. The bonus for you is the retractable feature that keeps bristles clean in your make-up bag. Maria Thattil made sure to pack it in her travel bag, just before she jetted off to Italy!  When it comes to sharing a winning beauty application tip, we're loving the below luminous all over look created by make-up artist Penny Antuar who used the 13 Ultimate Perfecting Brush to apply our Touch of Glow Highlight Stick sharing that this make-up brush, "enables you to apply an amazing amount of product to a large area and allows for a seamless and smooth application."  Maria Thattil also used the 13 Ultimate Perfecting Brush to contour her cheekbones. This brush has been designed for liquid and powder formulas. Maria told us, "One of my favourite makeup techniques is contouring and I truly believe it can be quick and natural with the right tools. I used the Ultimate Perfecting Brush because it has densely packed fibres that allow a smooth, airbrushed application - and the brush shape nails pigment placement under the hollows of your cheeks for a perfect sculpt."  Max May told us recently that he loves blush, saying "I feel like blush is the unsung hero of make-up. People talk about dark circles, and they want to cover it with layers of foundation, concealer and powders. They talk about that they don’t have a tan so they want to pack on lots of bronzers and liquid luminisers, or they talk about anti-ageing and putting on luminiser. Blush does all of that." Our 06 Angled Blush Brush is designed for applying powder blush like our Virgin Blush, or also the Sunkissed Pressed Bronzer, as it glides naturally over the cheekbones for expert application of cheek contour. Make-up artist Emma Chen did just that in the below, creating a gorgeous healthy glow and touch of colour to the cheekbones.  Make-up artist Penny Antuar used the 04 Contour Brush to create the below sun kissed glow, and mentioned, "adding definition to the cheeks using Nude by Nature Contour Brush + Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer on the beautiful Mary Stickley. Loving these cruelty free brushes!" The Contour Brush is the perfect brush for contouring and defining the face with blush or bronze powders.   Karima McKimmie is also a fan of the 04 Contour Brush. She loves how soft the Nude by Nature brushes are, that they're all cruelty-free and how well they perform. We're loving her stunning make-up base!   If you'd like to discover our complete Pro Brush Collection, click HERE to view all of the brushes in this cruelty-free collection. MAKE-UP ESSENTIALS FOR YOUR TRAVEL CARRY-ON BAG

We all love a summer holiday. Actually, if we're honest we all love holidays full stop - regardless of the trip being a week in the snow, exploring the Angkor temples in Cambodia, or relaxing on a sun lounger in Puglia. Image courtesy of: @theloveassembly using the Moisture Shine Lipstick If you're in planning mode for this year's well deserved getaway, there's a few big decisions coming your way - do you pack that extra pair of shoes, the books you've been wanting to read for months or the jeans you simply can't live without?! It's not easy. A few handy general tips regarding trip planning and what to pack include: - Make beauty appointments prior to your holiday for things like a hair colour and cut, having your nails done or a hydrating facial. - Keep an eye on the long-term weather forecast for your destination. This will definitely help with regards to whether you do pack those favourite jeans, or another bikini!  - Consider in advance the style of travel bags you are going to take with you. For example, if you're going to be on trains a lot - think about lugging that heavy suitcase up and down railway stairs constantly and pack accordingly, or if you've booked a few low-cost flights - airlines can be quite strict regarding the weight of your bags - including the size of your carry-on. - Remember to pack all toiletries in a waterproof bag, and clear plastic sealable bag with products under 100ml for your carry-on.  - Travel size minis are ideal for make-up, skincare and haircare products - for check-in and carry-on luggage. As an example our Complexion Essentials Starter Kit includes a comprehensive selection of our complexion bestsellers in handy travel sizes and comes with a make-up case.  Complexion Essentials Starter Kit - Take lots of water for your flight, and a reusable water bottle is an even better idea as you'll be able to use it throughout your trip. - You can never have too much sunscreen and good hats.  - Adaptors (the correct ones for the countries you're visiting) and chargers for all your devices. Also, make sure you organise a phone plan for the time you're away, or get a local country SIM for your destination. This can be a costly exercise - international roaming charges are sometimes horrendous.   Image courtesy of: @sophiemilner_fs With the above tips in mind, we've created a list of a few make-up essentials that will be ideal to include in your carry-on, for both long and short haul trips:  Travel Make-up Kit - Our Travel Make-up Kit includes a selection of convenient make-up bestsellers ideal for travelling, and for creating an array of looks. The Travel Make-up Kit features our Pressed Mineral Cover Foundation, Natural Illusion Eyeshadow Trio 03 Rose, Allure Defining Mascara 01 Black, Moisture Shine Lipstick 03 Dusty Rose and Retractable Travel Brush.  Travel Make-up Kit BB Cream - That moment when you're about to disembark post a long-haul flight, and you want to feel semi-human - that's when BB cream comes in handy. After you've applied your hydrating skincare products, our Sheer Glow BB Cream is ideal. It's an all-in-one BB cream that instantly enhances the complexion, providing light coverage to even out skin tone, and SPF 8 protection. It's enriched with moisturising ingredients such as Phytomoist and Desert Date Oil, plus the native Australian Kakadu Plum known for its abundant Vitamin C content. BB cream is also lovely to apply with lipgloss post a day at the beach, if you're after a complexion product with lightweight coverage.  Sheer Glow BB Cream Pressed Powder Foundation - If you'd like something that delivers medium to full coverage, especially when you're on the road travelling our Pressed Mineral Cover is a great foundation choice. It's a pressed mineral powder foundation with a matte finish, and best of all it's long-lasting, for up to 8 hours. It's perfect for on-the-go touch ups, composed of active natural ingredients including moisturising Avocado Oil and nourishing Shea Butter plus comes with a mirror compact.   Pressed Mineral Cover Concealer - Always handy to have on you - whether you're at home, need a quick touch up during the day, or whilst travelling and need to brighten jet-lagged eyes! Our recommendation is the creamy Liquid Mineral Concealer to instantly cover dark circles, disguise puffiness, hyper-pigmentation and blemishes. It's enriched with moisturising ingredients including Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E, plus like all Nude by Nature products it's suitable for sensitive skin.  Liquid Mineral Concealer Finishing Powder - If you're after a finishing powder, to set your make-up and for touch ups during the day, the Pressed Mattifying Mineral Veil helps control shine, naturally extending make-up wear. It's a pressed mineral finishing powder, and enriched with skin nourishing ingredients plus comes with a mirror compact.  Pressed Mattifying Mineral Veil Travel Make-up Brush - All of our high quality make-up brushes are cruelty-free and made of ultra-soft synthetic fibres. The retractable Travel Brush is perfect for your make-up bag, it's suitable for powder formulas with short, tightly packed bristles that effortlessly deliver the right amount of formula. It's awesome to take travelling with you as well as in your handbag for any daily touch up needs.  Travel Brush Highlighter - Adding a little shimmer and luminous sheen never hurts - regardless of whether you're going from beach to bar, or from shopping to dinner. Our versatile Touch of Glow Highlight Stick is lightweight and ideal to throw into any type of bag, easy and quick to use plus available in four iridescent shades. It has a glide-on cream-to-powder texture and like all Nude by Nature products its cruelty-free and made with 100% natural ingredients. It's also a multi-purpose make-up product, and can be used on your cheekbones as a highlighter, on your eyes as a shadow, or to top up lips with a little shimmer.  Image courtesy of: @coquettebavarde using our Touch of Glow Highlight Stick Pressed Eyeshadow - If you'd like to brighten your eyes with some shadow a pressed version such as our Natural Illusion Pressed Eyeshadow is superb for your travel make-up collection. It's compact, and includes a mirror for application plus it's richly pigmented and easy to blend, coming in 12 shade options. Alternatively you may like on of our three Natural Illusion Eyeshadow Trios. Choose between a Nude, Rose or Smoky version, and each then has three richly pigmented shadows and double ended brush for application.  Natural Illusion Pressed Eyeshadow & Natural Illusion Eyeshadow Trio Mascara - A quick application of mascara, and your eyes are immediately more defined and attention grabbing. The Allure Defining Mascara lengthens, separates lashes and intensifies in an instant. It has a buildable formula and is enriched with Pro Vitamin B5 to condition the lashes over time.  Allure Defining Mascara Brows - Our Brow Collection includes three products, and although you may not feel like adding a brow product when you're stepping off a long-haul flight, they are excellent to use when you're away, and would like to create a beautiful frame for your eyes. For example take a look at our Precision Brow Mascara. It's a tinted brow mascara that instantly shapes brows, quick to apply and has a buildable formula. @kristinaamcnabb uses the Precision Brow Mascara Lips - Dry skin and lips in-flight are pretty much par for the course, so it's definitely a good idea to be prepared with cleansing make-up wipes, hydrating skincare and lip balm to use throughout the flight, and to drink lots of water. If you're after a nourishing lip product for your travel carry on to use throughout your trip, you will like both our Moisture Infusion Lipgloss and the Sheer Glow Colour Balm. Each are enriched with lip nourishing ingredients. The Moisture Infusion Lipgloss smooths and enhances lips with vibrant glossy colour, naturally plumps the appearance of lips, with a non-sticky feel. How To Guides

Our Primer Collection

Are you a primer fan? These days using a primer has pretty much become a given as the starting point for any make-up look.  Airbrush Mineral Primer The key reasons for using a make-up primer are to create a smooth, even base for make-up application and to help extend wear. All positive benefits and lets face it, if we can help our make-up last for a longer period of time and achieve a final look that is beautifully flawless, well - we're winning!  You'll find that the different types of primers available on the market are for the face, lip and eye. Our Primer Collection includes the Airbrush Mineral Primer, Perfecting Eye Primer and Perfecting Lip Primer.   Each of our cruelty-free primers are made with 100% natural ingredients (like all of our make-up collection), formulated without unnecessary chemicals, synthetic ingredients or preservatives and importantly when it comes to primers all are silicone-free. One of the ingredients found in each of our primers is the native Australian Kakadu Plum, known for its abundant Vitamin C content and as being an antioxidant. To discover more about each of our primers, read the below descriptions for each:  Airbrush Mineral Primer Airbrush Mineral Primer: This best-selling make-up primer is a crowd favourite! It smooths skin and creates an even, luminous base for make-up application, while helping to extend wear. The key ingredient is Green Tea known for its anti-ageing and antioxidant properties. To apply the Airbrush Mineral Primer, you simply use fingertips to apply the primer across the face prior to foundation application, after you've applied your moisturiser.  Product benefits include: - Smooths skin without silicones - Enriched with moisturising ingredients - Antioxidant rich formula - Blends seamlessly into the skin - Helps fight visible signs of ageing   Perfecting Eye Primer Perfecting Eye Primer: Aside from helping to create an even base for your eye make-up application, an eye primer like the Perfecting Eye Primer is also great for allowing your eyeshadow to go on more smoothly. The Perfecting Eye Primer helps tighten the skin in the eye area and smooth the appearance of wrinkles while helping to extend eye make-up wear. The recommended application method is to use fingertips or the Base Shadow Brush to apply the eye primer onto the eyelid. Product benefits include: - Creates an even base for eye make-up - Enriched with anti-ageing ingredients - Smooths skin without silicones - Helps smooth appearance of wrinkles - Fragrance-free Perfecting Lip Primer Perfecting Lip Primer: Max May, our Make-up Ambassador recently told us that his greatest beauty hack for lipstick application is a lip primer, like our Perfecting Lip Primer. He mentioned, "I would probably say the best overall tip would be to prime the lip whether you’re using a nude or a bright colour or even a really deep colour you want to keep the lip hydrated and plump, that is that the lip is looking as full as possible and using a primer beforehand is going to hydrate the lip and it’s going to trap the moisture underneath the primer and the lipstick so that it lasts longer and looks more plump." The Perfecting Lip Primer is the ultimate prep for lip colour, it minimises feathering, helps promote longer wear and a smooth finish. To apply we recommend using before lip colour, applying directly to lips and slightly beyond the lip contour, then blend in with fingertips. Product benefits include: - Conditions and perfects the lips - Helps prevent lip colour feathering - Enriched with replenishing ingredients - Quick and easy application - Minimises the appearance of fine lines SHOP OUR PRIMER COLLECTION Perfecting Lip Primer & Perfecting Eye Primer

INFLUENCER PROFILE - KELSEY HEINRICHS

Gorgeous Kelsey Heinrichs is a London based Aussie creative, photographer, graphic designer, blogger and founder of the Creative Gal Gang community. You'll find her on Instagram under the @kelseyinlondon handle, and it won't take long to figure out that she also loves to travel!  We caught up recently with Kelsey, and you can read what we chatted about below: Nude by Nature (NbN): We’d love to hear more about your professional background, and the work you do in a Creative Director and graphic design capacity. Kelsey: I’m a freelance Graphic Designer and previously worked as a Creative Director in fashion. My creative skills go hand in hand with my blogging and there’s nothing more satisfying than making my clients visions come to life whether that be a logo design or a photography campaign. NbN: Are you able to share more about Creative Gal Gang; how it started and its purpose. Kelsey: I founded Creative Gal Gang when I first moved to London all the way from dusty old Australia. At first I found it quite daunting to start again in a new city where I knew no-one in the creative and blogging industry. After I'd initially made some fellow blogger friends, I thought it would be amazing to create a community that connected creative females who often worked alone. No matter what stage you’re at in your career or creative hobby, we’re all on the same journey and it’s important to remember that. NbN: As an Australian who has moved across to the UK, are you able to let us know what you’re noticing are the key differences in your beauty regime, and products that you’re using in the UK that aren’t necessarily as important in Australia. Kelsey: Since moving to the UK I’ve noticed I have to use a lot more products and pay extra attention to exactly what I’m using. The water is incredibly hard in London compared to Australia, therefore I’ve installed a filter on my shower otherwise the pollution is harsh on my skin and hair. The lack of sun and warm weather in the UK means having to take vitamin D tablets and using more hydrating serums and moisturisers. NbN: Have you noticed any beauty or fashion trends that you think are going to be big in the next 12 months? Kelsey: Self-care and sustainability! Less is more is definitely on the rise again in both beauty and fashion with minimal make-up looks and making a conscious effort to wear less fast-fashion. I’ve been seeking more thought out fashion purchases, buying quality investment pieces I will love for years to come. Self-care is so important and a lot of that can relate to your beauty regime, and what makes you feel beautiful. NbN: Speaking of beauty do you have a favourite Nude by Nature product, and why?  Kelsey: The Touch of Glow Highlight Stick in the shade Champagne because it makes me feel super fancy and gives such an extra glow to my make-up look. NbN: Do you have any favourite daily beauty hacks? Kelsey: Papaw Ointment on just about everything. Us Aussies know! NbN: How about beauty hacks for when you’re travelling? Kelsey: When I’m travelling I always want to spend less time on my make-up and more time drinking cocktails by the beach, so I’ll usually just whack on some BB cream, mascara and lipstick to feel a bit more put together and then head out the door. NbN: It looks like you love to explore the world, and travel to incredible destinations! Where are you planning on heading to in the next 6-12 months? Kelsey: I’ve got a trip coming up to Egypt which I’m incredibly excited about! I’ll also be going back home to Australia as I aim to go back every six months to see my family and friends, and enjoy a cheeky bit of sunshine. NbN: How are you finding living in London? Do you have any favourite places that you have loved discovering? Kelsey: Living in London - there’s endless things to do and see. I love sharing my favourite finds on Instagram under #KelseyinLondonSpots. Though one of my favourite places is definitely Broadway Market on a Saturday. There are so many cool shops, pubs and restaurants on that street and you can’t beat grabbing a beer and walking up to London Fields on a sunny day. NbN: Last question! What are your plans for the next 12 months? Anything exciting that you can share with us? Kelsey: I’m planning on moving out to a new place where I can focus on my interior styling and photography which is a big passion of mine, and will hopefully be a good segue into releasing my own product line. Stay tuned!   All images courtesy of Kelsey Heinrichs.

Late last year, Nude by Nature donated to the wonderful Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation, and this entailed supporting their 2018 ‘12 Days of Christmas’ campaign. We were thrilled to be able to donate not only financially, but also to volunteer at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. In December, during the campaign period, a group of our Sydney team spent a day at the Hospital, and we thoroughly enjoyed supporting the Foundation team with all of their Christmas activities created to entertain and engage children, families and staff during the 12 Days of Christmas, plus to discover more about the incredible medical research taking place in the Hospital and how this is helping many children around Australia. Whilst at the Hospital the Nude by Nature team helped by setting up a gaming grotto plus an arts & crafts table for kids to use, wrote letters from Santa, and gave out presents to children throughout the day as well. It was a wonderful and unforgettable experience for us to be part of. The Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation supports five organisations who are part of the Sydney Children's Hospital Network. This includes the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Bear Cottage, The Newborn and Paediatric Emergency Transport Service plus Kids Research. The Foundation specifically provides funds for the vital clinical care that children (across the five organisations within the network) need, thereby giving them the best treatment and hospital experience possible. In addition, as the Nude by Nature team discovered the Foundation also invests in research for future ground-breaking treatment. Everyone from the Nude by Nature team were taken on a tour of certain areas of the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick and saw the extraordinary artworks of the Art Program that the Foundation runs as well. Throughout the Hospital stunning, colourful artworks of all shapes and sizes provide a positive environment to reassure, relax and bring happiness to all the kids, families and staff who are there each day. The Art Program also includes a rotating exhibition of selling shows created by independent and emerging artists. Exhibition openings are open to the public as the Hospital is a registered art gallery, with funds raised going back into the Hospital and to support local artists.   As part of our donation towards the ‘12 Days of Christmas’ campaign, the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation were able to purchase much needed equipment for sick and injured children including two life-supporting ventilators for the Intensive Care Unit, an ultrasound system, an ultrasound probe and a paediatric colonoscope. Everyone at Nude by Nature is really proud to support the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation. If you’d like to donate to the Foundation click HERE.

INFLUENCER PROFILE - RACHEL BARWICK

Adelaide native Rachel Barwick made the life changing decision to leave her teaching job at the beginning of 2016, and to spend six months in a caravan with her partner travelling up the east coast of Australia. It has led to many incredible travel experiences taken around the world since, and an ever growing following on her Instagram account, @life.with.three.  We caught up with Rachel recently, and below you can read more about what we discussed: Nude by Nature (NbN): First up, we have to ask, do you have a favourite Nude by Nature product, and why? Rachel: I have always had dry lips, no matter how much water I drink daily, so I absolutely love the Creamy Matte Lipsticks. They are super moisturising but have more of a soft matte finish. The colour pigments are beautiful too, and so easy to apply! I also really love the Natural Wonders Eye Palette. I don't usually wear a lot of bright colour so these neutral tones are perfect for bronze looks.  NbN: Are you able to share your personal story with us, especially around your career progression, and about what you’re doing these days. Rachel: From an early age, I have had a passion for travel and the excitement that comes with discovering something new. My love for travel was epitomised by me walking away from my job with my partner (@caravandan) at the start of 2016, packing my bags and embarking on a six month caravan trip up the east coast of Australia. Our love of both travel and photography had us quickly absorbed in the world of Instagram, which served as the perfect medium for us to share our experience with our family back home and a growing number of like-minded travel enthusiasts. The diversity of our photography and the strong following that ensued attracted the attention of a range of different brand collaborations, which has opened the door for us to continue ticking new items off our bucket list. Each destination holds a new story and this is something we always try to capture within our photos. NbN: In your wildest dreams five years ago did you think that you’d be doing what you are in 2019, in terms of your career? Rachel: Before my partner and I embarked on our six month trip up the east coast of Australia I had finished my teaching degree and had been relieving for a year. It was only on our journey that we started sharing our travels on Instagram and people started joining in on our passion for travelling Australia in a van. I am so thankful for what Instagram has opened up for us in terms of travel and also the beautiful Australian brands that I get to work with.  NbN: For any up and coming photographers and content creators, do you have any words of wisdom with regards to forging a successful career. Rachel: I would always suggest to keep true to your own personal style and editing and don't let the pressure of Instagram change that. In saying this, don't be afraid of change if you want to, it's how we grow! NbN: Do you have any tips for maintaining a beauty regime when you’re on the road travelling?  Rachel: My everyday beauty regime is super simple so I don't usually have to change too much for when we travel - I’m very low maintenance! I suggest taking products that travel easily, and that are lightweight. I usually take a refreshing rose toner for hydrating on the go, a nourishing serum - this can double as a moisturiser when you're in humid tropical locations and a moisturiser that you can use for face and body! I also use my Nude by Nature Sunkissed Pressed Bronzer for colour, eyes and highlighting. The less products, the better. NbN: You spend lots of time travelling each year. Do you find it tough when you’re away from home to be consistent in terms of wellness and exercise? Rachel: When Dan and I travel we are always on the go, so to be honest I'm probably working out more when we’re away than when I'm at home. What makes travelling hard for me is being away from my fur babies! NbN: Are you able to share a few of your favourite Instagram accounts, that you love to follow, and why.  Rachel: I love following @teganphillipa - she is so authentic and positive and really makes you want to celebrate your own uniqueness. @sivanayla has so many amazing ideas for food, fashion and home styling. I also love following @officiallyquigley - she radiates positivity in all her posts in a real and true way.  NbN: What are a few of the top destinations on your personal travel bucket list? Rachel: I am so excited that early next year my partner and I will be travelling to Thailand for the first time! This has been on our bucket list for such a long time so we are really looking forward to this trip. We don't usually book trips this far ahead but the opportunity came about and we just had to take it. I would also love to visit the US west coast and India. NbN: In the past 12 months, what are a couple of places that you visited that really surprised you, and why.  Rachel: Last August while we were in Europe we visited Mykonos and I had no idea that it was such a party island! I absolutely loved the divine little backstreets made up of blue and white so we got up super early to enjoy these on our own in the mornings whilst everyone was asleep. Another place which also surprised me was Malta. It honestly has some of the bluest crystal waters you will ever see! However, it was heartbreaking to see a lot of rubbish, in the water and also in the streets.  NbN: Home for you is Adelaide in South Australia. Are you able to let us know about a couple of your favourite places you recommend every visitor goes to.   Rachel: It’s no surprise that I love the beach and my favourite little spot in SA is called Southport Beach. The view from the top of the cliffs down the coast is always impressive, no matter what time of year it is. I would also recommend Blanche Point, Port Willunga and just close by is McLaren Vale. NbN: Do you have an inspirational or motivational quote that you love, and if so, are you able to share it with us. Rachel: Look for something positive in each day, even if on some days you have to look a little harder.  Thank you, Rachel! All images courtesy of: Rachel Barwick

How To Shoot Beauty Products In Social Media Images

Do you like sharing images of your favourite beauty products to your personal social media channels? With billions of posts being shared to social media networks every day, the visual element of that content is key, so we thought it was a nice idea to share a few useful tips in particular for how to take a great image incorporating beauty products. There is quite an art to taking beautiful images that include cosmetic products, and the below tips have been created for anyone who is interested in developing their personal social media style and would like to create eye catching, engaging content. The tips include examples of great social media photography featuring our good for you make-up collection. We are committed to delivering make-up made with 100% natural ingredients and formulated without unnecessary chemicals, synthetic ingredients or preservatives often found in cosmetics. Tip Number 1: Before you start taking any photos, make sure your phone or camera lens is clean! Below are our tips that you can use for your social media photography: Consistency: Work towards creating a consistent, unique style for your images and social media accounts - think about it as being your own personal brand. That way, anyone who follows you will immediately recognise that you’ve published that specific piece of content. This includes: Filters - either via your smartphone camera or photography apps   How much you edit an image Content themes Exposure Saturation Colour vs. black & white Images courtesy of: @melhwang & @nourish_naturally Lighting: Definitely one of the most important elements of your photo. Natural light is always the best; especially at sunrise or sunset. If you’re shooting inside (without lighting equipment) where possible shoot close to a window, and try to avoid: Too much artificial lighting Shadows, darkness and unwanted reflections Images courtesy of: @nattdesu & @y.a.t.r.i Frame & Composition: Here your aim is to draw the viewer’s eye and focus to the subject of your image, such as a bottle of foundation. Photographers generally work to a rule of thirds in terms of alignment when shooting images, however you’ll also notice these days that social images quite often feature the subject in the centre of the image. A few tips we have regarding composition are: Many people like to use the grid line feature on their smartphones to line up the subject in their photo. This feature makes taking photos much easier! Remember when you’re uploading images to social channels that the frame can be smaller than your original, so shoot images with that in mind Rather than zooming in too much when taking the photo, instead crop the image when you’re editing it Shoot your photo or video in landscape or portrait, depending on the social channel you’re uploading it to When shooting, take a few different angles, to give you multiple options to choose as the final image to use Images courtesy of: @itsmotherland & @jestem_kasia Product Visibility: When you’re including beauty products in your images, make sure the product is: Visible and not too small That the product and brand name is clear Packaging is clean and doesn’t have fingerprints all over it If a product has a mirror, check for reflections Images courtesy of: @erisa__kurti & @jacksteel_au Your Look - If your images include before & after shots of yourself (or friends, models) with products applied, you’re demonstrating how to use a product, or you are holding a product, it’s important to make sure: Your image style is consistent It’s clear what type of look you’ve created (for example ‘Date Night Look’) If your hands are in frame - make sure fingernails are clean and nail polish isn’t chipped Image background is simple If you’re demonstrating how a product looks on your skin, make sure that is the focus of the image Try to avoid shadows and stripes of light running across your face If you’re featuring complexion products like foundation or concealer, make sure the shade you use is correct Images courtesy of: @xoxotsumi @lillehoang & @ashleighhuynh Don’t Take Things Too Seriously - Always be yourself, and don’t change your own personal style to adapt to what you think is going to get you more Likes. Be authentic, and have fun. Images courtesy of: @teegly & @signecatseyes Tag Your Favourite Brand - Don’t be afraid to tag a brand if you’ve used their products in your post. It’s a great way to be discovered, and regrammed by a brand that you really love. It may also lead to you being selected by that brand to collaborate with them in the future.
