Perfect Brows, Naturally
Eyebrows are said to be one of our most prominent facial features, and when done right, they help to shape the face, make the eyes seem larger and show emotion. You’ll find many different types of brow products to buy, each offering the chance to create different looks; such as a natural, sculpted or bold brow. When selecting a brow make-up product, it’s important to think about what suits your eyebrows, and the look that you want to create. One of our top tips is to not use too much make-up. Looking like a clown is never the aim of the brow game! Here at Nude by Nature, we’ve just launched a brand new Brow Collection to help you create picture perfect brows. The Brow Collection includes three versatile products to define, sculpt and shape eyebrows. Discover more about the Brow Collection below: Defining Brow Pencil: This soft, creamy pencil is enriched with natural ingredients including Macadamia Oil, Vitamin E, Jojoba and Mango Seed Oil. The long wearing, buildable formula glides on smoothly and is easy to blend with an integrated spoolie brush. Discover more here. Natural Definition Brow Palette: This versatile brow palette has been created to enhance and achieve gorgeous, sculpted brows. It includes two brow powders, as well as a highlight shade to accentuate the brows. The travel size palette comes with a double ended brush and mirror, making it perfect for on the go make-up touch ups. Discover more here. Precision Brow Mascara: Instantly and effortlessly shape and add colour with the lightweight Precision Brow Mascara. The buildable formula dries quickly, and is composed of natural ingredients including Lilly Pilly, Pro Vitamin B5 and Candelilla Wax. Discover more here. Now it’s time to create a couple of brow looks! First up is a Natural Brow. Check out our step by step tutorial below using the Precision Brow Mascara. Step 1: Brush lightly through hairs in an upward motion using short, controlled strokes. Step 2: Repeat to build coverage and hold as required. Step 3: Give a final brush through using the tip of the brush and following the shape of the brow to instantly shape for natural definition. You may prefer instead to create a Sculpted Brow. Create the look with our Natural Definition Brow Palette. Follow the steps below: Step 1: Using the angled end of the small brush, draw a soft line to define the underneath of the brow to create definition and help shape the brow. Start from the inside corner to the arch and down the tail. Step 2: Apply powder to the brows in small strokes to mimic natural looking hairs. Repeat to build coverage as required to achieve filled and groomed brows. The two brow powder shades, can be used alone or blended together for a perfect customised colour. Step 3: To blend, brush through brows with the spoolie end of the small brush following the shape of the brow. Step 4: Finish the look with the luminous highlight shade, apply on the brow bone using the Smudge Brush to further brighten and accentuate the brows. The final brow step by step tutorial is a Bold Brow, created using the Defining Brow Pencil. Follow the steps below to create the look: Step 1: Hold the pencil up to the eye as a guide and use the sharpened tip to faintly mark the three key points of your brow; start, arch and end. Step 2: Apply pencil directly to the brows in small, feathery strokes to mimic natural looking hairs. Create a natural outline, and then fill in and build coverage as required to create perfectly filled and defined brows. Step 3: To blend, brush through brows with the pencil’s spoolie end, following the shape of the brow. SHOP BROW COLLECTION Let us know, what’s your favourite brow look?
Our 100% Natural Lip Collection
The wait is over! We’re thrilled that our brand new 100% Natural Lip Collection is now available online and in-store. It’s a launch everyone here at Nude by Nature has been working on for many months, and we’re very excited that you can now experience this gorgeous range of good for you lip products. Kiss Goodbye To Toxic Lipstick It’s been said that people ingest kilos of lipstick over their lifetime. It’s kind of crazy to consider, however that means lots of unnecessary chemicals going into our bodies courtesy of our favourite lipstick. Today’s society in general is more conscious than ever about our health, lifestyle and environmental choices. Make-up is something that we should all become more aware about. Many brands use unnecessary chemicals, synthetic ingredients and preservatives, which can cause irritations and put your skin at risk. In addition, testing on animals still occurs, and it doesn’t have to. Did you know that a lot of lipsticks still use dead bugs as a colourant? Yes, you read correctly. Carmine is a red pigment derived from insects (beetles that live as parasites on cactus plants), and is commonly used as a colourant in cosmetics, such as lipstick. Carmine is considered controversial due to its animal origin, and its association with possible allergic reactions. What to look out for on the label? Carmine is also commonly called CI 75470 and natural red 4 (or E120 when it’s in food and beverages). Our new 100% natural lip collection is free from carmine, petroleum waxes, silicones, coal tar dyes, or any synthetics. Like all Nude by Nature make-up products the lip collection is enriched with good for you, 100% natural ingredients and is cruelty-free. Our lip collection includes natural ingredients such as Kakadu Plum, Shea Butter, Desert Lime and Tangerine Oil. It’s all about a 100% natural smile, and that’s something we all love. The 100% Natural Lip Collection We are launching three lip products in Australia; Moisture Shine Lipstick, Moisture Infusion Lipgloss and the Defining Lip Pencil. Each is formulated with active natural ingredients, carefully selected to deliver exceptional results. The collection encompasses shades inspired by the spectrum of the Australian landscape, from the arid deserts and wild bushland all the way to the sun kissed beaches. Moisture rich colour to smooth, enhance and define. Discover more about each product in the below: Defining Lip Pencil: The highly pigmented Defining Lip Pencil provides smooth colour coverage to contour and define the lips. The long-lasting formula includes native Australian Macadamia Oil, Vitamin E, Shea Butter and Meadowfoam Seed Oil. We suggest either wearing it alone or as a base for lip colour to add definition and promote longer wear. The Defining Lip Pencil is available in six shades. Shop Defining Lip Pencil Moisture Shine Lipstick: Formulated with the lip nourishing Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and active natural ingredients Vitamin E and Kakadu Plum, the colour-rich Moisture Shine Lipstick provides a gorgeous sweep of colour and luminous shine finish. INFLUENCER PROFILE - KIARA KING
Perth native Kiara King is a style, fashion and travel content creator and influencer. Since starting her blog Lion In The Wild, post graduating from university, she has worked hard to grow and evolve both the blog and her social channels, to now being one of Australia's most popular for her authenticity and the beautiful content that she shares across all her channels. We have collaborated with Kiara a few times in the past year, and caught up with her after she returned from a recent trip to New York. Check out our conversation below: Nude by Nature (NbN): Are you able to share the background on how you first started Lion In The Wild, and your plans for 2019. Kiara: I was working full-time, having just graduated from university with a Bachelor in Creative Advertising Design and, truth be told, Lion in the Wild was born out of pure weekend boredom as a personal creative project. Before long, it unexpectedly took off and has developed into the platform it is now. We have a number of very exciting projects and partnerships planned for 2019, as well as launching our new venture, In the Wild Creative, which you’ll be hearing more about very soon! Nude by Nature (NbN): Congratulations on your recent marriage! That must make 2018 quite an extraordinary year for you. Are you able to share any other unforgettable moments from the last year? Kiara: Marrying my best friend/love of my life/lifetime sidekick undoubtedly tops the list for 2018, which will forever go down as the most unforgettably amazing year (so far). I was fortunate enough to travel to 18 amazing countries, which included swimming with sharks in the Maldives and hanging out with (real) lions in the wild in South Africa. To say it was special would be a huge understatement. I’m still pinching myself! Nude by Nature (NbN): What do you think are a couple of the most important beauty products that every woman should own? Kiara: A hydrating, flawless base with SPF, and a moisturising lipstick or lipgloss. For me, it’s all about healthy, glowing skin and products with amazing natural ingredients. Nude by Nature (NbN): What are a couple of your top beauty hacks? Kiara: Two of my go-to beauty hacks are: 1) Applying highlighter to the inner corners of my eyes, which not only makes your eyes pop, but gives the illusion of 8-hours sleep. 2) For perfect beachy waves without using heat products, after washing and towel drying my hair, I twist small sections of hair and leave them overnight. When I wake-up, I comb them through and am left with super easy and healthy waves. It’s the best time saver! Nude by Nature (NbN): A couple of our biggest points of difference as a brand are that all our make-up products are enriched with 100% natural ingredients, and we are proudly cruelty-free. Do you think people are becoming more aware of what’s in the make-up and hair products that they use, and are re-thinking their product choices? Kiara: People are becoming increasingly savvy and discerning when it comes to the brands they purchase from, and cruelty-free, natural ingredients from ethical companies are at the top of the list in which beauty customers buy - myself included. It’s the way of the future and it’s a long time coming. Nude by Nature (NbN): Are you able to share with us a few of your favourite Nude by Nature products, and why? Kiara: Where do I begin? The Defining Brow Pencil and Precision Brow Mascara are daily favourites of mine since the collection launched (not a day has gone by without me reaching for one or the other). Also, on high rotation you’ll find the Beach Glow Liquid Highlighter (it’s super versatile), the Shimmering Sands Loose Eyeshadow and the Defining Lip Pencil in Soft Pink with the Moisture Infusion Lipgloss (a great daily lip combo). Like I said, there’s so many favourites! Nude by Nature (NbN): Are you someone who still enjoys flicking through a magazine, or do you find you consume all your media online? Kiara: I mostly find myself consuming digital media these days, but I truly miss the moments I used to spend reading magazines and books, so much so that I’ve begun reading my favourites again like Porter, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Grazia. If anything, I find print even more inspirational and valuable than before in this instantaneous world. Nude by Nature (NbN): Do you have a few favourite Instagram accounts, that you religiously follow? Kiara: Now this is going to be a tough one to narrow down. I currently can’t get enough of @leoniehanne for her creative style content, @ohuprettythings for her beauty photography and @isabellath for her authentic travel content. They’re all a must follow if you want constant inspiration! Nude by Nature (NbN): You love to travel! Are you able to let us know about a couple of your favourite travel destinations? Plus, do you have many travel plans for 2019, and if so, are you able to reveal what’s on your list! Kiara: Japan and New Zealand will be forever in my heart as two of my favourite travel destinations that I’ve visited more than I care to admit (I just can’t get enough!), but I also loved the Maldives, France and South Africa. As for 2019, we’ve just arrived home from a few weeks in New York City and depart for Dubai next week (exciting!), but we’re also hoping to see more of Australia this year, especially my beautiful home state, Western Australia. Nude by Nature (NbN): As a Perth local, do you have a few secret places that you recommend that visitors ‘must do’ when they’re in your hometown? Kiara: If you’re looking for iconic locations, no Perth trip is complete without visiting Kings Park for the best city views and Cottesloe, arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia. If you’re a foodie (or a coffee snob), then you should definitely head into Fremantle for a bite, which is home to the coolest cafes, restaurants and bars. If you want to do a day trip, then you’ll fall in-love with Rottnest Island for untouched coves, reefs and, of course, quokkas! And if you’ve got time for a weekend away (or longer), hire a car and go down south to my personal favourite, the Margaret River Region (a 3-hour drive from Perth), for world class surf, wine, cuisine and so much more. Can you tell I’m a little in-love with where I’m from? Nude by Nature (NbN): Final question! Do you have a favourite quote or phrase that motivates and inspires you in your daily life? Kiara: “Love what you do and do what you love.” - It’s a quote I’ve lived by in my adulthood, vowing to wake-up everyday excited for the day ahead, regardless of whether it be a weekday or weekend. We spend so much time working in our lives and it truly is a privilege to be able to follow my dreams. Thank you, Kiara! All images courtesy of: Kiara King
INFLUENCER PROFILE - RHIANNON TAYLOR
The lovely Rhiannon Taylor is a food, travel and lifestyle photographer based in Melbourne. As well as her editorial photography work for a diverse mix of clients, she created In Bed With a few years ago initially as a side hustle and one now that is a full time project with a dedicated community of loyal followers around the world. Visit the In Bed With blog, and you're immediately asked the question, "Who are you staying with tonight?" - it's an apt question to ask at a time when so many of us scroll for hours through our social media feeds filled with wanderlust dreaming of places we'd like to stay around the world. The In Bed With site and Instagram account are a gorgeous collection of images shot by Rhiannon during her travels and provide travel inspiration not only for where to stay, but also for new destinations to visit around the globe. We caught up recently with Rhiannon, and below you'll find the details of our chat: Nude by Nature (NBN): Can you share with us more about your background, your photography career, social media strategy and the decision to start your beautiful travel and lifestyle blog In Bed With. Rhiannon: I’ve been a photographer for over 12 years, shooting interiors, travel, food and lifestyle for publications and brands near and far. Throughout my career I’ve been lucky enough to travel extensively and this was really the inspiration to start In Bed With. I adore great interior design and have a huge love of travel, so curating hotels in to a blog just felt like a natural fit. To be honest, I started In Bed With as an offshoot to my work as a photographer, documenting beautiful hotels whilst on assignment photographing for my clients. But the social media aspect took off quickly because the audience was so interested to see inside beautiful hotels around the world. What started as a creative hobby soon turned into a full time project. Nude by Nature (NBN): In the past 12 months you’ve been all over the world! Can you share your favourite destinations from the past year? Rhiannon: There are honestly too many to name - both for the blog and for my clients. But my favourite from this year was renting a villa called L’Arancera Di Villa Grabau in Lucca (Northern Tuscany), Italy for a week with friends and family for my wedding. It was so relaxing, with great food, wine and cooking classes. And of course getting married! I also just returned from Yucatan in Mexico, which was unbelievable. Unlimited guacamole, colourful towns, incredible beaches and beautiful hotels. Nude by Nature (NBN): Do you have any favourite beauty hacks that you use when you’re travelling? Rhiannon: I keep a mist and facial oil stored in every suitcase and handbag when I travel. Keeping my skin hydrated is key - this makes me feel normal. Planes have a funny habit of making you feel yuck! I also carry a bunch of natural cleansing wipes - often I’m flying for 20 hours plus and these are great in lieu of a shower. Nude by Nature (NBN): What do you think are a couple of the most important beauty products that every woman should own? Rhiannon: A great sunscreen. As a traveller and someone who loves the Australian sun, it’s essential to protect against the premature ageing effects of sun damage. I also can’t live without a great cleanser (I often double cleanse), to get rid of impurities, pollution etc from the day. Nude by Nature (NBN): A couple of our unique points of difference as a brand is that all our make-up products are enriched with 100% natural ingredients, and we are proudly cruelty-free. Do you think people are educating themselves more these days about what's in the make-up they use, and are looking to new beauty products to use instead? Rhiannon: Yes! I recently overhauled my whole beauty regime to go completely natural and clean. As a woman who is obsessed with skincare and make-up, this was really difficult. But considering how many products we use on a daily basis, I became petrified of the amount of chemicals I was smothering all over my pores and washing down my sink into the ocean. I think there’s been a great shift in the way we purchase beauty products now and I hope with more education using natural products will become the norm. Nude by Nature (NBN): With the above in mind, are you able to share which is your favourite Nude by Nature make-up essential? Rhiannon: I adore the Natural Mineral Cover Foundation. Coming in to summer Natural Mineral Cover is really all I need to even out my skin tone and give me a fresh faced look. I don’t wear much more than that. Nude by Nature (NBN): Do you have a favourite inspirational quote? Rhiannon: I’m terrible at remembering quotes however someone once told me “Be kind, in everything that you do and to everyone you meet”. I think this applies to both work and home for me. Nude by Nature (NBN): What about places you’ve got on your travel bucket list? Rhiannon: I’m dying to explore Alaska to see the wildlife and landscape. I’d love to do an island holiday to the Seychelles too - it’s a dream destination for me. Nude by Nature (NBN): Has there been a place you’ve visited in the past few years that has really surprised you? Rhiannon: I was really surprised by Cape Town in South Africa. I think it is truly one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Likewise with Istanbul I visited a few months ago. Talk about wow! Stunning architecture, food, people - I was only there for two days and I’m plotting a way to get back soon! Nude by Nature (NBN): When you are back home in Melbourne, what are a couple of your most loved places/things to do? Rhiannon: First and foremost I try to soak up as much time as possible with my husband and family. When I travel I’m constantly exploring and eating out, so when I’m home I like to cook a lot. I love the Mornington Peninsula and pop down frequently to have lunch at Pt Leo Estate, taste wine at Crittenden Estate and stay at Jackalope or The Summer Residence. Nude by Nature (NBN): Lucky last question! What are your plans for 2019? Anything you can share with us? Rhiannon: There are so many things planned for 2019! A few incredible trips but also the launch of a select collection of fine art prints that I’ve taken from all over the world. I’m excited to see them sent off and displayed in people’s homes and public spaces! Thank you very much for your time! All images courtesy of Rhiannon Taylor.
Our Top Make-up Tips For Over 40’s Women
Women in their 40’s have life experience in spades; smart tips on career, parenting, love, friendship and travel are always ready to be shared. There are usually a few memorable tales of unforgettable adventures to be told too! When it comes to beauty, whether it’s a barbeque with friends and family, day at work, or shopping catch up with a bestie, women - regardless of age like to look their best. As women go from their 30’s to 40’s their bodies change, and it’s important to look after themselves inside and out. Regular exercise, a healthy balanced diet, drinking lots of water, focusing on a wellness practice such as meditation and 7-8 hours of sleep a night all help towards giving bodies the best opportunity to shine. By the time women hit their 40’s, they have a beauty regime they’re pretty comfortable with. As women age, their skin matures and it’s at this point that a few tweaks can be made to skincare and make-up routines to conceal pigmentation, dark circles plus to hydrate dry or dehydrated skin, and minimise appearance of fine lines. For the most part changes to skin occur due to the loss of collagen and elasticity. It’s therefore a good idea to re-evaluate beauty products that are used, as well as make-up looks and techniques to combat skin changes and to continue walking out the door each day feeling confident and happy. We’ve come up with the following make-up tips for the over 40’s: 1) Primer: After using a hydrating moisturiser, and sunscreen, prepping with a make-up primer is next. Primers are created to provide a smooth, even base for make-up and to help extend wear. A primer such as our Airbrush Mineral Primer is a great choice because it is composed of moisturising ingredients including Vitamin E, plus it restores freshness and helps fight visible signs of ageing including key ingredient Green Tea. You can also use an eye primer to create an even base for eye make-up application. Our Perfecting Eye Primer helps extend eye make-up wear plus smoothes and tightens the eye area. The eye primer is enriched with an Oat derived anti-aging ingredient known for its tightening and anti-wrinkle properties. 2) Foundation: Here the aim should be to use a foundation product that covers any pigmentation, doesn’t settle in fine lines and wrinkles, plus is composed of skin nourishing ingredients to ensure against drying your skin, with a light - medium coverage. It’s also a good idea to look for a long-wearing foundation that will provide a luminous, radiant finish. We have two foundation recommendations that are both ideal options for women in their 40’s, and suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin. The first is our Liquid Mineral Foundation. It’s a hydrating, sheer liquid foundation that evens out the complexion, enhances skin radiance and is composed of skin nourishing ingredients that help fight visible signs of ageing with a light - medium coverage. The second option is our Natural Mineral Cover Foundation. This loose mineral powder foundation has been a crowd favourite since it first launched nearly 10 years ago. The feather-light SPF 15 formula adapts naturally to skin tones, evens out the complexion, covers redness and pigmentation and is composed of active natural ingredients including Jojoba Esters and Kaolin Clay. Best of all, it feels amazing on the skin! 3) Concealer: A concealer is a versatile beauty product for women of any age! They are great to have both in the beauty bag at home, as well as in the handbag for on the go touch ups. A concealer can be used to cover dark circles plus to disguise puffiness, imperfections and pigmentation. They are applied either before (for a loose mineral powder such as our Natural Mineral Cover Foundation), or after (for a liquid format such as our Liquid Mineral Foundation) foundation to disguise any imperfections that need a little extra coverage. Here at Nude by Nature, we have two concealers you can choose from. The first is the Flawless Concealer, which is a long wearing, stick concealer that comes in 8 shades. It’s easy to use, and expertly camouflages dark circles, pigmentation and imperfections. It’s also suitable for sensitive skin, and has been dermatologist tested. We also have the Liquid Mineral Concealer that instantly covers dark circles and disguises puffiness and imperfections. It’s a creamy liquid concealer, and is enriched with moisturising Vitamin E, and the key ingredient is FloreEsters which reduce fine lines and dryness. 4) Eyebrows: When it comes to brows and women in their 40’s, it’s important to make sure they are well maintained and haven’t been over plucked. The eyebrows can become a little sparse as women age, so keeping them well groomed and shaped is key - also to give a more youthful appearance. Therefore, when using a make-up product the objective is to create a more fuller looking and defined brow. Our brow collection includes three products created to define, sculpt and shape eyebrows into a perfect, natural look. The collection includes the Defining Brow Pencil, Natural Definition Brow Palette and Precision Brow Mascara. The soft, buildable formula of the Defining Brow Pencil helps to create perfectly filled and defined brows. So, if brows are becoming a little sparse, using this pencil will help fill out and define, plus the integrated spoolie brush will help blend for a natural finish. The Natural Definition Brow Palette features two brow powders that can be used alone or blended together to achieve filled and groomed brows. The third shade is a luminous highlight shade to accentuate and brighten the brows. The Precision Brow Mascara can be used to instantly shape brows, adds colour and hold for natural definition, has a buildable formula and is easy to use. 5) Eyes: Eyeliner and eyeshadow can both help to define and open the eyes. It’s a good idea to steer away from dark eyeshadows and liquid eyeliners as they can make eyes look smaller in appearance. Instead, we recommend using a creamy glide on pencil like our Contour Eye Pencil which is available in six shades to complement every eye colour, has a densely pigmented formula, an integrated smudge tip for easy blending, and is enriched with active natural ingredients like Macadamia Oil and Mango Seed Oil to impart rich colour and intense definition. One trick to use with eyeshadow that will enhance the eyes is to switch to a neutral shadow. Lighter shades will lift and brighten the whites of the eyes, and make them look more rested. The Natural Illusion Eyeshadow Trio is available in either 01 Nude (with shades Nude, Taupe, Brown) and 03 Rose (Light Pink, Peach, Brown), and comes in either a matte, satin or satin shimmer finish. The shadow provides full colour coverage, is a lightweight powder and applies easily onto the lid. To complete the eyes, mascara will lengthen lashes and add further definition to the overall look. We suggest the Allure Defining Mascara as it is a vitamin enriched mascara that gives intensified, lengthened and separated lashes in an instant. It’s easy to use, has a buildable formula and conditions lashes over time. 6) Lips: It’s a great idea to seek out lip products that have been formulated with nourishing ingredients that are non-drying and are comfortable to wear. It’s worth investing in a lip pencil that will define the lips (which can get smaller as women age), make them appear fuller and help prevent bleeding into fine lines around the mouth. Our 100% Natural Lip Collection is free from carmine, petroleum waxes, parabens, silicones, coal tar dyes or any synthetics. Our lip products are instead enriched with good for you 100% natural ingredients including Shea Butter, Kakadu Plum, Desert Lime and Tangerine Oil. The collection currently incorporates the Defining Lip Pencil, Moisture Shine Lipstick and Moisture Infusion Lipgloss. Start with the Defining Lip Pencil to provide smooth colour coverage and to contour and define the lips. Available in six shades, and composed of lip nourishing ingredients including Shea Butter and moisturising Vitamin E, the formula is long-lasting and glides on smoothly. The Moisture Shine Lipstick is a colour-rich lipstick that delivers a luminous shine finish and is available in 10 beautiful shades. The lipstick has a silky, moisturising feel and is very comfortable to wear. Lucky last is the Moisture Infusion Lipgloss. It’s been created to enhance lips with vibrant, glossy colour and is formulated with unique moisturising microspheres to help repair and plump lips for a natural, voluminous look. The lipgloss can be worn over the lip pencil and lipstick, or on its own. 7) Make-up Brushes: The last tip to mention is in regards to make-up brushes. Using the right tools to apply beauty products makes a world of difference, and will help you create a smooth, even, flawless finish. The important thing is to figure out the brushes that you need. At Nude by Nature we have a comprehensive selection of ultra-soft, high-quality synthetic fibre cruelty-free brushes. It’s possible to purchase brushes individually, or in a set such as the Essential Collection Brush Set which comes with 7 professional rose gold make-up brushes. You can discover more about our make-up brushes in this blog post. Click here to read ‘Which Make-up Brushes Do I Need?’. Spring has sprung, and that means it’s time for us to toss away our parkas and beanies for another year. Hip hooray! As we celebrate the return of warmer weather, and look forward to enjoying our first swim in the ocean or the start of daylight savings, it’s also the time we look forward to popular events that take place during Spring and Summer, such as weddings, Christmas parties, Spring Racing Carnival and the fun of New Year’s Eve celebrations. Peak wedding season is regarded as being from late Spring until early Autumn. Every wedding is special and filled with love, and ideally one that is remembered for a long time. Whether you’re the bride, in the bridal party or a guest, there are a few beauty tips which we think are pretty useful to remember for the big day. Weddings can be both a mix of day and night events, or just one, and tend to be big, fun days. Being prepared in advance is super important - not least if you are the bride! For pre-wedding skincare, if you’re the bride, it’s worth thinking carefully in advance about your daily skincare routine, and investing in regular facials - to ensure beautiful skin texture and appearance on the day. Plus, a few facials in the lead up to your wedding might be exactly what you need to have a nice relax! If you’re a guest, remember to check the wedding invite, and plan what you’re going to wear according to the specified dress code. On the day of the wedding, it’s a good idea to use a moisturiser with SPF prior to applying any make-up. In the following we’ve prepared a list of beauty products to use when creating your wedding make-up look: - Primer: One of the biggest benefits for primer is to help extend make-up wear as well as restoring freshness and disguising skin imperfections. This is exactly what you want your make-up to do at a wedding. It’s recommended to also use an eye primer to tighten and smooth thereby creating an even base for eye make-up application. Discover more about our good for you Airbrush Mineral Primer and Perfecting Eye Primer. - Foundation: The key with foundation is to use one that is long wearing, comfortable to wear and buildable. The make-up look that you create should work for an all day event, so a highly contoured, heavier look with dramatic, smoky eyes isn’t generally what you’ll see at a day wedding! We recommend our Flawless Liquid Foundation which is a long wearing, liquid foundation that delivers a medium to full coverage with a satin matte finish. Like all Nude by Nature products, it’s formulated with 100% natural ingredients including Kakadu Plum and Bamboo Powder. We also suggest taking the Pressed Mineral Cover in your handbag for make-up touch ups. This pressed mineral powder foundation instantly illuminates the skin with a flawless coverage, contains moisturising, antioxidant ingredients and importantly is long-lasting (up to 8 hours), meaning your coverage will last right till the bride and groom leave! - Concealer: For any dark circles or puffiness under the eyes, blemishes or skin imperfections, concealer is the product you want in both your at home beauty bag, and in your handbag. Concealers work with your foundation to provide additional coverage and to deliver a smooth, even appearance to the skin. You’ll find concealers come in a few different formats; from a stick, cream, liquid, crayon or cream-to-powder. Concealers can also be used as a base before applying eyeshadow, as a highlighter over cheekbones, brow, chin or nose bridge and to stop lipstick from bleeding. For an event like a wedding, a concealer is ideal to use when creating your look at home, and for any touch ups needed through the day. We recommend our Flawless Concealer. It’s a long wearing, stick concealer that provides full coverage and a satin matte finish. The creamy formula of the concealer expertly camouflages dark circles, pigmentation and imperfections plus is composed of beautiful active natural ingredients such as Bamboo Powder and Quandong. - Bronzer: Bronzers are used to add warmth, and a natural healthy glow to the cheekbones and contours of the face. You’ll find bronzers in powder, gel, liquid and cream formats. Bronzers shouldn’t be used as a contour, they should instead be used on the areas of your face where the sun would naturally hit your face, like your cheekbones and the contours of your face. You don’t want to overdo the usage of your bronzer as well - you want the finish to look natural, giving you a sun kissed glow. We have two Bronzing products you can check out - either the Mineral Bronzer or Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer. Both are suitable for all skin types and are mineral powder bronzers, with the results being a healthy sun kissed glow and to add warmth and definition to the complexion. The key differences between the two are that the Mineral Bronzer gives a satin finish whilst as the name indicates the Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer is pressed, comes with a mirror compact (so is perfect to include in your touch up bag), and delivers a matte finish. - Finishing Powder: Our Mineral Finishing Veil is a loose mineral finishing powder that sets make-up in a satin matte finish, extends make-up wear, helps control shine (none of us like an oily, shiny face!) and disguises fine lines. You only need to lightly brush the powder over your face, focusing on the T-zone and under the eyes to diffuse dark circles and finish your make-up look. It’s the perfect finishing touch for your complexion! - Highlight: One additional element you may like to add is Highlight, which is for adding dimension, radiance or luminosity to naturally emphasise facial features. Highlighters are used on the cheekbones, nose, cupids bow, temple and hairline. Our Highlight Palette is a versatile palette for easy highlighting that comes in three shades to deliver warmth, colour and highlight. The lightweight powders are enriched with 100% natural ingredients, including the native Australian Kakadu Plum, known for its abundant Vitamin C content and Jojoba Oil for skin softening and moisturising. - Eyes: As mentioned above, it’s a good idea to start with an Eye Primer to create an even base for your eye make-up, and to support longer wear. When it comes to creating a make-up look for your eyes that will be perfect for the wedding you are attending, it’s a great idea to emphasise your eyes however it’s suggested to not go too shimmery, dark or bold (a bright yellow eyeshadow probably isn’t going to work!). You want your look to be balanced, and the products to be comfortable for you to wear all day. We recommend using an eyeshadow such as our Natural Illusion Eyeshadow Trio in either Nude or Rose. Each comes with three individual shades, offering the perfecting combination to easily create professional eye looks providing smooth and even colour. You may like to then use a Contour Eye Pencil along the lashes, and smudged to create a soft blurred effect. Final product for the eyelashes is a mascara to give your eyes definition and length. The Allure Defining Mascara intensifies, lengthens and separates lashes plus is buildable giving full colour coverage. To apply, simply run the brush through the lashes from root to tip to add colour and definition. - Brows: Frame your eyes and make them larger, with brow make-up. Brows that have been shaped and given definition will add a beautiful strength to your overall look. There are a few different brow products to choose for creating a natural, sculpted or bold brow. Two of the products available in our Brow Collection are the Natural Definition Brow Palette and Precision Brow Mascara. Brow powders like those included in our Brow Palette will deliver volume, depth and a sculpted look to your brows. The powders can be used alone or blended together to achieve filled and groomed brows, plus the formula is buildable. Our suggested application method using the Natural Definition Brow Palette is to apply to the brows in small strokes to mimic natural looking hairs. Brush through brows to blend, and then finish with the highlight shade included on the brow bone to brighten the eyes. The Precision Brow Mascara add shape, colour and hold for natural definition. This type of eyebrow product is great to ensure the brows stay put perfectly all day. It’s simple to use, by brushing through hairs in an upward motion following the natural shape of the brow and can be built as required. - Lips: Lucky last for your make-up look! The shade that you choose is determined by your outfit, accessories, hair and other make-up you’re wearing. If you’re the bride, it doesn’t hurt to have a little colour on the lips, in order to not be too neutral overall; when combining with your wedding gown. A moisturising lipstick is a good idea for a wedding as it will keep your lips looking their best, and wear off more slowly and naturally than a matte finish. One lipstick you therefore will like is our Moisture Shine Lipstick. It’s a colour-rich lipstick with a creamy texture, formulated with lip nourishing ingredients including Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil. It feels super moisturising and comfortable on the lips, and is available in 10 lovely shades ranging from Bare Pink to Mulberry. To help promote longer wear of your lipstick, start with the highly pigmented Defining Lip Pencil which will also act as a base for your lip colour. It’s available in six shades. - Touch Up Kit: Whether you’re the bride or a guest, having a few make-up products on hand for touch ups throughout the day is essential. Start with blotting paper in your kit, then look to touching up your complexion with a foundation powder such as our Pressed Mineral Cover, or instead the Pressed Mattifying Mineral Veil which is a pressed mineral finishing powder that helps control shine while setting make-up in a satin matte finish are each great options. When it comes to concealer, the Flawless Concealer is perfect and very easy to apply plus you may like to include the Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer. Your lipstick in the shade you’re wearing is good to have, plus for later in the day, you might want to instead wear a gloss such as the Moisture Infusion Lipgloss which provides full colour coverage, comes in 10 shades and has a non-sticky feel. INFLUENCER PROFILE - NATALIE LUCAS
Content creator and blogger Natalie Lucas calls Sydney home, and you'll often see the inner city architecture featuring in her beautiful content. Natalie, an ex make-up artist and model started her blog From Luxe With Love a few years back, and her Instagram account is one to follow for the latest style, travel and beauty tips. If you like flatlay images - definitely check out her Instagram account, as she shoots brilliant flatlays! We have recently been collaborating with Natalie, and took the opportunity last week to have a chat with her to catch up. Nude by Nature (NBN): What do you think are a couple of the most important beauty products that every woman should own? Natalie: It’s so hard to choose just a few! Definitely sunscreen; it's so important, a good concealer to fake your way to 8 hours of sleep, an eyelash curler and mascara to instantly open up the eyes, blush to give the complexion a healthy flush, and a tinted lip balm are all a must for me. Oh, and I can’t forget dry shampoo – an essential for those busy / lazy days! NBN: What are a couple of your favourite beauty hacks? Natalie: One of my favourite beauty hacks would be using soap to set my eyebrows – it works wonders in setting brows in place all day long whilst making them look fuller. I also love to run a white or nude coloured pencil through my waterline to help instantly brighten my eyes - particularly when I’m looking extra tired. Lastly, a cream lipstick doubles as a great blush if you’ve only got one product on hand. NBN: Can you share which are your favourite Nude by Nature products? Natalie: The Defining Lip Pencil and Moisture Shine Lipstick both in shade ‘02’ are my newest favourites. Together, these are one of my go-to every day lip combos. They’re comfortable to wear as the lipstick is nice and hydrating, and full of natural, good for you ingredients. The average women consumes a fair amount of lipstick in a lifetime, so I think working towards lip products that contain natural ingredients is particularly important. NBN: We’d love to hear more about your personal background, and career. How long ago did you start your blog From Luxe With Love, and what was the biggest reason why you did? Natalie: I started From Luxe With Love back in 2014 when I was studying on exchange in Canada. It initially started as an outlet to share photos from my travels and some of my favourite places, but quickly grew into a space to share some of my fashion and beauty favourites too. I always loved styling product shots and flatlays, and having worked as a make-up artist, I had no shortage of products to work with! NBN: Have you always loved luxury brands, and can you share your key reasons for focusing on this market with From Luxe With Love. Natalie: Working as a make-up artist in the past, I always loved luxury make-up and skincare – I can’t go past some good, luxe packaging! I’ve definitely got more into luxury over the last couple of years though (it’s always a bit harder to shop when you’re a student!). I love sharing beautiful, luxe items over on From Luxe With Love, both the ones I’ve purchased and the ones on my wish list. NBN: Your photography incorporates lots of flatlays. Can you share any tips for taking a great flatlay image? Natalie: Good lighting and a clean backdrop is always a great place to start. Natural lighting works best, but if you don’t have access to this there are some great affordable lighting options around. For example, I like to use two Softboxes if I’m shooting at night. I like to build layers within a shot with props like magazines, and start with a few key centre pieces then build the shot from there. NBN: Can you share a couple of the top destinations on your personal travel bucket list? Natalie: I definitely want to make it to the Amalfi Coast in the next couple of years. I always love travelling throughout Europe but the Maldives is also on my list – it looks so dreamy and relaxing! NBN: Do you have any tips for packing clothes and beauty products for a holiday? Natalie: Travel sized products will always be your best friend when travelling, particularly internationally as everything needs to be under 100ml. If you can’t find your favourite products in travel size, decant them into smaller containers. When packing clothes, rolling them will leave your clothes with less creases and allow you to fit more. NBN: We'd love to hear about a few of your favourite Instagram accounts, that you enjoy following. Natalie: I love thehautepursuit, blankitinerary, figtny and oracle fox. NBN: As a Sydney local, are you able to let us know a couple of your favourite quintessentially Sydney things that visitors should plan on doing? Natalie: Seeing the Opera House and Harbour Bridge is definitely a must if you’ve never been to Sydney before. The Bondi to Coogee coastal walk is also something I’d definitely recommend, just start early to avoid the crowds. I love eating my way around cities that I visit, so I’m always on the lookout for cute food spots like The Grounds of Alexandria, Flower Child, Bread and Circus, The Boathouse and Celsius Coffee Co. INFLUENCER PROFILE - SARAH HOLLOWAY
We think the job title 'funtrepreneur' is pretty cool, and encapsulates so much of what many people in today's world are doing in their lives - creating successful businesses from their own personal passions or side hustles. One such person is the gorgeous Sarah Holloway. The Melbourne based lawyer packs a lot into a day. The matcha green tea company Matcha Maiden that she co-founded with her partner Nic Davidson as a side hustle, grew to a point in 2015 where she decided to take the leap and leave her job as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer to focus full-time on the business. It's a risk that has paid off as the super successful business continues to thrive, and they've since also co-founded the Matcha Mylkbar (Australia's first matcha cafe in St Kilda, Melbourne) with friends. You'll also find Sarah blogging at Spoonful of Sarah, and most recently she has launched the inspirational Seize the Yay podcast. We caught up with this dynamo recently, and Sarah talked to us about the business, podcast and personal beauty, health and wellness routines plus what she's most looking forward to this summer. Take a read of our interview below: Nude by Nature (NBN): Can you share with us more about your background, your professional career and how you made the decision to leave your legal career, and to work full-time on your then side hustle business, Matcha Maiden. Sarah: Yes! I’m a lawyer turned 'funtrepreneur’. I started out as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer but made the jump about three years ago now. Law was an amazing place to start my career, but I’m equal parts nerdburger and arty farty, and the latter wasn’t getting enough love. I didn’t, however, expect the chance to change pathways would come so early - it was a complete accident (a very happy one!). My partner Nic and I went to Rwanda on a charitable expedition in my first year of work and while it was the most incredible experience, I came home with a parasite and dropped over 10kg. In typical A-type fashion, I went straight back to work and didn’t take any time off so inevitably crashed and burned into an adrenal fatigue mess. I was banned from coffee while I recovered - which all but signalled the end of my life as a functioning human being. Around the same time I was sent to the firm’s headquarters in Hong Kong where I rediscovered the marvels of matcha green tea powder. What a miracle - a healthier form of caffeination that still gives you a good buzz without the crash and jitters of coffee! Nic and I both got hooked over there, and came home with a matcha obsession popping it in smoothies, salad dressings, everything! Unfortunately (or fortunately), we couldn’t find a good supplier anywhere when we got back to Melbourne. We went online to find a high quality, organic middle ground, and could only order in bulk so suddenly had to come up with a way to creatively use all that powder and our side hustle idea was born! Matcha Maiden started as a hilariously DIY 'Breaking Bad' style situation with us packing in a commercial kitchen at midnight after I’d finish work - covered in green powder. I figured if I sold one single bag to a stranger, I could put it on my LinkedIn that I’m an entrepreneur and that’s all I really needed at the time. However, it turns out we’d stumbled upon a huge gap in the market, and that masses of matcha fans had been waiting for someone to close it for them. Social media also made it incredibly quick and easy to spread the message of our new venture, and we very quickly grew a beautiful communi-tea that reached beyond our Aussie borders and around the world. Urban Outfitters, the big US fashion giant, discovered us six months in and asked if we could create something custom for their lifestyle section and placed an order that dwarfed our entire sales to that point in time. That’s when I decided to take the jump. While it was an incredibly scary decision, looking back it made so much sense. Which of the two options was never going to be available again? Law would always be there, but the chance to grow a business from scratch off the back of social media and based on a product and industry I love? Once in a lifetime. So I transitioned out after six months, and that was about three years ago now! We now have warehouses in LA and Melbourne, 1500+ stockists around the globe, have served over three million servings of matcha and have a global communi-tea of over 100,000 people. We opened a cutting edge plant-based cafe, Matcha Mylkbar, two years in to extend our presence to the physical world. Chris Hemsworth even named it his favourite cafe in Australia! I literally went from dreaming up my life to living my dreams and I still pinch myself every day. And, we have so much in the pipeline, such a bright green future ahead. NBN: How did you leverage the power of social media to grow Matcha Maiden? Sarah: We launched purely on social media and it remains our primary form of communication and marketing. While, of course it has its downsides and risks, it is an incredibly powerful and dynamic tool for targeting the right audience and spreading your message quickly, widely and for free! We invested a lot of time and care into creating a beautiful aesthetic, maintaining a brand tone, and growing an engaged and loyal audience based on relevant interests and passions. We have great relationships with a lot of amazing influencers and also fellow health and wellness brands and we love to collaborate on products to share audiences and further grow the brand. It’s just such an amazing part of the modern world that democratises influence and business that is unique to our generation of business owners - I wouldn’t even be a business owner without it! NBN: And now there’s Seize the Yay! Tell us about it. What are your plans for this new podcast? Sarah: I am SO excited! It’s already been so incredible, and we’re only a few episodes in. My personal profile, Spoonful of Sarah, had been growing incidentally through speaking about the business journey and changing career paths. I’ve met so many amazing people on the way and realised recently what a shame it is that our more honest, open backstage conversations about self-doubt, setbacks, the people behind the brands and their identities outside of work never get shared more widely. I also love to throw myself into something I have absolutely no clue about (hence Matcha Maiden and Matcha Mylkbar), so was ready for a new challenge. My true passion lies in inspiring others to create lives they love and sharing the relatable, behind the scenes of what it takes to get there. So, Seize the Yay was born a few weeks ago, and I’ve been blown away by the response so far. The idea is purely just to look at what makes people “yay” - so happiness and fulfilment rather than just “busy-ness”, and success or money. Our lives are so linear these days - work and rest - but we’ve lost that beautiful element of play and so often ask “what do you do?” before we ever ask “what do you like?” or “who are you?”. I have also struggled for many years with severe anxiety, and am passionate about sharing the less glamorous moments of challenge, failure or doubt along the way to reassure people that everyone has their battles and happiness is a full time job. I want it to be different to the existing business, health or women’s podcasts and just look more broadly at finding the “yay” in our lives across all industries, job formats and genders and have such an amazing lineup so far - I literally can’t fall asleep I’m so excited! Stay tuned! NBN: Can you share any details about the inspiring people you’ll be interviewing on the podcast? Sarah: Lisa Messenger and Kristina Karlsson have been our first two incredible guests sharing so candidly about their businesses, their lives before and outside of work, their bad habits and challenges. The beautiful Rachael Finch is up next followed by the incredible Osher Gunsberg diving deep into his new book, 'Back, After the Break', and the harrowing battle he has had with mental health and addiction behind the scenes. The confirmed pipeline after that is so exciting but still a secret. There are lots of fellow founders, plus also people in jobs they love including editors, TV stars, Hollywood actors, musicians, sportspeople, medical experts, lawyers and more. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed such beautiful reviews, shares or feedback so far and please tune in if you haven’t already. You can subscribe here! NBN: What is your favourite Nude by Nature product, and why? Sarah: I absolutely love the Natural Mineral Cover Foundation. It’s so light on the skin, doesn’t clog the pores, and breathes well. It also provides amazing coverage. I use it every single day. It doesn’t dry the skin out, plus it’s SPF 15 so I know I’m protecting my skin at the same time as covering up any blemishes or uneven tone. I couldn’t wear any other base again having switched to natural mineral powder. NBN: A couple of our biggest points of difference as a brand is that all our make-up products are enriched with 100% natural ingredients, and we are proudly cruelty-free. Do you think people are becoming more aware of what’s in the make-up that they use, and are rethinking their product choices? Sarah: Absolutely, I think we’re finally starting to see a shift in people’s priorities and general awareness of conscious shopping. It’s so strange that we’re so careful with what we put in our bodies but not nearly as much with what we put on them. Even though the skin is the biggest organ! I’m so happy to see that disparity is finally disappearing as people start to understand the impact of their decisions on both their own wellbeing and the environment around us. NBN: What do you think are a couple of the most important beauty products that every woman should own? Sarah: Sunscreen! Our generation loves a good bronze tan, however the skin is so delicate and my Mum has always been religious with us about sun protection. She looks decades younger than she is, so I’m following her example! A light mineral powder is also a must as it serves you well for daytime, night-time, a no make-up look or a full face for going out. Same goes for mascara, it’s my go-to as there’s nothing like plump lashes to make you feel feminine and ready to face the world! NBN: What are a couple of destinations on your travel bucket list? Sarah: Nic and I have travelled a lot so far. We both adore travelling and have done some pretty cool trips; the Middle East, Africa, all over Europe. Next up though would be Egypt (which was too violent when we were last booked to go), Sri Lanka and South America. NBN: Favourite forms of exercise, and any words of wisdom about being inspired to be more active? Sarah: I love a bit of everything. I’m really “phase-y” rather than mixing it up. At the moment I’m really enjoying F45, and higher intensity stuff as my mind is so busy. However, a little while ago I was all aboard the yoga and pilates train when I needed something more gentle and yin. I also love a good long walk with the dog somewhere in nature - it's so good for mental health and overall physical conditioning. I’ll pretty much try anything. I box occasionally, do spin classes (very occasionally) plus, I do weights and strength training in between too, or a body weight circuit if I’m travelling. I’m in a good routine now but for the first two years of the business I barely exercised at all - so ironic. I thought going into wellness I’d be the picture of health, but I got so excited and nothing felt like work so I never took a break. Now I realise how vital it is not just for your body but for your mind, and I’ve slowly reintegrated a routine into my life. The big thing that helped me is that consistency is most important - there's no point doing five sessions a week then dropping off for a month. It’s better to just choose an amount that’s sustainable and stick with that over the longer term until you can build up over time. Now I exercise hard about 3-4 times a week, but I also listen to my body so when that’s seeming too much or too little, I’ll change things up. NBN: Do you have an inspirational quote that you absolutely love? Sarah: SO MANY! I adore motivational quotes and share one daily on my Instagram stories. My favourite is, “doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will”. NBN: Spring and summer are upon us (yay!), and as a Melbourne local, we’d love to hear your recommendations for visitors about a few awesome places to hang out in the warmer months in Melb’s. Sarah: Well, I do know of a great plant-based cafe right by St Kilda Beach called Matcha Mylkbar! But seriously, Melbourne is the most exciting place to be in the warmer months, and even regional Victoria has so many gems you can reach in an hour or so. I love Albert Park lake for a beautiful walk, The Tan and Botanic Gardens, anywhere along the beach or somewhere near water. It’s so beautiful and calming in summer. There are so many events and pop ups around too - night markets, moonlight cinema, rooftop bars. It’s the place to be! Thank you, Sarah! All images courtesy of Sarah Holloway.
INFLUENCER PROFILE - REBECCA GAWTHORNE
We recently caught up with the super positive and energetic Rebecca Gawthorne - aka Nourish Naturally. The Sydney based dietitian and nutritionist is passionate about health and wellness, loves the great outdoors, and is also a fan of our cruelty-free make-up collection. You'll find her online on her website, Facebook, Instagram and also YouTube, where she has just started publishing videos. Take a read of our catch up chat with Rebecca below: Nude by Nature (NBN): Can you share with us more about your background, and love for the fitness and wellness world. Rebecca: I live in Cronulla with my husband, and I love all things food, health, fitness and summer. I studied a Bachelor of Nutrition & Dietetics at the University of Wollongong, and that absolutely changed my life when it comes to health. I was always into keeping active but after studying Dietetics, it will never cease to amaze me how important healthy, nourishing food is to our bodies. Food physically becomes you! It makes up every cell in your body – your muscles, hair, skin, heart. We need to nourish our bodies with healthy, real, wholesome foods to ensure our bodies function healthily, to feel energetic and live the life we were created to. NBN: Have you always been interested in fitness and nutrition? Rebecca: I always loved being active as a kid, which naturally turned into a love of fitness as I grew up, but I wasn’t really interested in nutrition until I studied food tech at school. I loved the health aspect of the subject, and decided to look into studying Dietetics at uni. The degree grew my passion for health and nutrition and now I absolutely love it! NBN: I read on your website about when you worked with the Royal Flying Doctor Services as The Flying Dietitian. Are you able to tell us a little more about that time in your life? Rebecca: Yes, that’s correct. When I first graduated from University as a Dietitian, I worked as “The Flying Dietitian”. Each fortnight, I flew out to rural NSW for three days a week to work with indigenous communities in Walgett, Brewarrina and Bourke. I worked with these communities to set up fruit and vegetable gardens, conducted cooking classes and ran mum’s and bub’s nutrition classes, as well as working one-on-one with clients for Dietitian appointments. It was extremely challenging but very rewarding. NBN: What are a couple of your favourite tips about healthy eating? Rebecca: Skip the fad diets and choose to nourish your body with real, healthy food that you love! Healthy eating isn’t about depravation, it’s about loving your body and feeding it with food that makes you feel energised, happy and healthy. Life can get busy, so try to put a bit of time aside to do the food shopping so you can have healthy food in the house, as well as plan and prepare some of your meals. I always get asked what I eat, so if you want to know you can see here. NBN: What are your favourite Nude by Nature product(s), and why? Rebecca: I don’t always wear a full face of make-up, but I never leave the house without touching up my brows and putting on some mascara. I love Nude by Nature’s Defining Brow Pencil and Allure Defining Mascara. Those two items come everywhere with me! I’ve also recently fallen in love with the Moisture Infusion Lipgloss in Peach Nude. It’s extremely nourishing, especially when I workout in the sun and wind. NBN: What do you think are a couple of the most important beauty products that every woman should own? Rebecca: Whatever makes her feel happy in her own skin! NBN: We’ve just hit Spring here in Australia. Yay! I think we’re all looking forward to the warmer weather. What are a couple of your most beloved Spring and Summer things to do? Rebecca: Yes, I can’t wait for summer! I’m definitely looking forward to the warmer weather. One of my favourite quotes is “Live in the sunshine, swim in the ocean, drink the wild air.” And that’s exactly what I plan to do during summer! NBN: You recently visited Japan. It’s such a beautiful country! What were a few of your personal highlights? Rebecca: Japan is such an amazing country, and the people are so lovely! The food would have to be one of my favourite parts. They had the most delicious sushi and fresh sashimi I’ve ever eaten. In terms of places, I absolutely loved Kyoto, especially Gion; it has so much culture. I also loved the islands Ishigaki and Northern Okinawa. The beaches were beautiful, with crystal clear water as warm as a bath tub, perfect for snorkeling. I’ve written a Japan travel blog here with our travel itinerary and tips for anyone planning to travel to Japan. NBN: Can you share a couple of the top destinations on your travel bucket list? Rebecca: My favourite destination I’ve ever been to is Reethi Beach in the Maldives. It’s the most beautiful tropical paradise with crystal clear waters, relaxed island vibes, consistent warm temperatures and stunning coral reefs. My husband and I were fortunate enough to travel to Reethi Beach for our honeymoon. The owners have just opened a new resort in the Maldives called Reethi Faru and that is #1 on my bucket list now. NBN: What are a few of your big 12 month goals? Rebecca: I’ve recently launched my YouTube channel, so that will be my main focus for the next while. I love sharing science-based nutrition advice, and I think YouTube is such a fun way to do this. NBN: Last question! As a Sydney local, are you able to share a couple of your favourite things that you’d recommend to any visitor? Rebecca: I would recommend visiting our beautiful Sydney beaches, especially Cronulla Beach! Cronulla has such a chilled, happy vibe and there are so many beautiful beach spots where you can hang out all day with the whole beach to yourself. I would also recommend visiting The Grounds of Alexandria! I worked on their new Healthy Spring Menu, and they have so many delicious and nutritious options. Plus, it’s an Instagrammer’s heaven with its amazing decor and photo opportunities. All images courtesy of Rebecca Gawthorne.
How To Create The Bold Lip Look
Last week, we shared our step-by-step tutorial for how to create a classic lip look using our 100% Natural Lip Collection. This week we thought we’d go bold! The Bold Lip Products Used: Perfecting Eye Primer - With ingredients including Cehami Extract and Olive Fruit Oil, the fragrance free Perfecting Eye Primer smooths skin and creates an even base for make-up application. Using an eye primer sounds unconventional, however it does work! Defining Lip Pencil 01 Nude - Providing full colour coverage, this highly pigmented lip pencil adds colour and definition to the lips with the key ingredient being Macadamia Oil for skin softening and soothing. Moisture Shine Lipstick 08 Garnet - Formulated with lip nourishing ingredients such as Shea Butter and Vitamin E, the Moisture Shine Lipstick has a moisturising feel for super comfortable wear. Moisture Infusion Lipgloss 01 Bare - If you’re looking for a lipgloss that enhances lips, has a non-sticky feel with a vibrant glossy colour - look no further this is the lipgloss for you! Step 1: Apply a tiny amount of Perfecting Eye Primer onto lips and slightly beyond the lip contour, then blend in with the fingertips. Step 2: Use Defining Lip Pencil 01 Nude to lightly trace the natural outline of your lips using small soft strokes. Blend with fingertips to slightly soften edges if required. Step 3: Apply Moisture Shine Lipstick 08 Garnet directly to lips or use 17 Angled Liner Brush to carefully fill in your lips with colour using short, controlled brush strokes. Step 4: Apply a small amount of Moisture Infusion Lipgloss 01 Bare to the back of the hand and then using your fingertip or brush, touch lightly onto the middle of the lips for a vibrant shine finish, instantly creating a naturally voluminous look. Love The Final Look? Shop 100% Natural Lip Collection Our Pro Tip for you: For a deeper red with more of a blue undertone, try pairing Moisture Shine Lipstick 08 Garnet with the Defining Lip Pencil 06 Berry. Define the outline of the lips and fill in to create a rich, solid colour base that will slightly deepen the hue to more of a claret shade. How To Create The Classic Lip Look
The cat is out of the bag! Our 100% Natural Lip Collection is now available online and in store. One of the biggest points of difference between our Lip Collection and many others is that it’s free from unnecessary chemicals, synthetic ingredients and preservatives, which can cause irritations and put your skin at risk. When it comes to lip products, it means that with our Lip Collection you are not going to be ingesting nasties like Carmine, Petroleum Waxes, Parabens, Silicones, Coal Tar Dyes, or any synthetics. Our gorgeous 100% Natural Lip Collection is instead enriched with good for you, active natural ingredients such as Shea Butter and Tangerine Oil. Plus like all Nude by Nature make-up, the collection is cruelty-free. You have to be happy with that! Our Lip Collection includes three products; the Defining Lip Pencil, Moisture Shine Lipstick and Moisture Infusion Lipgloss. It’s possible to create an array of stunning lip looks with each, or by using a combination of these three lip products. If you love a classic lip look, we’ve got a step-by-step tutorial for you to follow, as detailed below. The Classic Lip Products used: Perfecting Eye Primer - A silicone-free eye primer that tightens and smooths to create an even base for make-up application. Using an eye primer sounds unconventional but try it, it works! Defining Lip Pencil 04 Soft Pink - This lip pencil is highly pigmented. It adds colour and definition to the lips plus helps promote longer lip colour wear. Moisture Shine Lipstick 03 Dusty Rose - A colour-rich lipstick, with key result being that it delivers smooth colour and luminous shine to the lips. Moisture Infusion Lipgloss 07 Dusk - A non-sticky lipgloss that naturally plumps the appearance of lips with vibrant glossy colour. Step 1: Apply a tiny amount of Perfecting Eye Primer onto lips and slightly beyond the lip contour, then blend in with the fingertips. Step 2: Use Defining Lip Pencil 04 Soft Pink to trace the natural outline of your lips using small soft strokes, then fill your lips forming an overall colour base. Step 3: Apply Moisture Shine Lipstick 03 Dusty Rose directly to lips, or use 17 Angled Liner Brush to carefully fill in your lips with colour using short, controlled brush strokes. Step 4: Apply a small amount of Moisture Infusion Lipgloss 07 Dusk lightly onto the middle of the lips for a vibrant shine finish, instantly creating a naturally voluminous look. Voila! The Final Look. Shop 100% Natural Lip Collection We’ve got a Pro Tip for you too: Outlining your lips creates the desired shape, then filling in your lips with a lip pencil that matches your lipstick (04 Soft Pink is a seamless match for the Moisture Shine Lipstick 03 Dusty Rose) creates an additional base of colour to promote longer wear thanks to the pencil’s long-lasting formula. INFLUENCER PROFILE: BIANCA CHEAH
Bianca Cheah is the Australian founder of leading online publication Sporteluxe - a place for all things relating to wellness, fitness, lifestyle, travel and beauty. She is also a certified yogi, content creator and model, now splitting her time between Sydney and Los Angeles. On a recent trip back to Australia, we caught up with Bianca. She has collaborated with us this year, and is a fan of a few of our cruelty-free make-up products. You can watch a make-up tutorial video she created here. Check out the details of our chat below: Nude by Nature (NBN): We'd love to hear more about your personal story and journey. How did you start out in the fitspo/wellness publishing business, and also your love of yoga and exercise, and how that came about. Bianca: Before Sporteluxe was born, I was very into my fashion and fitness blogs and I especially loved to read Elin Kling's blog every single day. I loved her style and everything she wrote about. She really inspired me to create my own blog. I also loved fitness, nutrition, and activewear. But I could never find a blog that fused all my passions of fashion, health, and wellness together. That's when I thought to start my own blog, creating my own content. And thus, Sporteluxe was born in December 2012. NBN: Focusing on health and wellbeing is so important for us all. Do you have any favourite tips you can share to support people in their own personal journeys? Bianca: I never sweat the small stuff, and I always think that there’s someone in the world who’s way worse off than me. I try to think of everything as a learning curve. 'Hey it happened' - so what do we do about it, rather than cry over spilt milk. A wise friend once said to me, take control of the situation. So I do! My friends and family all think of me as a chill pill whenever I hang out with them. They say that somehow my energy always makes them feel so calm and relaxed. I think it’s a skill that my Mum taught me when I was a kid. So I now carry that across into my business life, and it’s definitely a skill that has helped me get through some super tough times. NBN: When it comes to beauty, what do you think are a couple of the most important products that every woman should own? Bianca: Moisturiser and blush. My skin is quite pale, so I always tend to pop a bit of apricot blush and a rich moisturiser to add a bit of colour. Otherwise I look sick! NBN: Can you share which Nude by Nature products are your favourites. Bianca: The Flawless Concealer. It’s just the right coverage, and it doesn’t crease under my eyes by the end of the day! NBN: What are a couple of your top beauty hacks? Bianca: An express shiatsu facial. It’s a facial massage that utlises the pressure points in the face. It promotes circulation and also induces calmness. I do one every morning after my shower, with a super rich moisturiser. It’s probably why I’m so calm at work every day! NBN: It seems like you definitely have the travel bug! What are a couple of your most loved destinations - that you always enjoy going back to? Bianca: I absolutely LOVE: The Amalfi Coast - who doesn’t right? Whistler — it's the best place for a skiing holiday, and those turquoise blue glaciers and rivers, just WOW! Plus the Whitsundays — I always say that Australia has some of the best places in the world to visit, and the Whitsundays is one of them. NBN: How about any places that you’ve heard about, and you’re super keen to visit for the first time? Bianca: Greece and France are on the list for sure. I haven’t had a chance to get there yet - but I will soon! NBN: You split your time between Sydney and LA. Have you got any ‘must do’s’ for both cities, that visitors should definitely head to? Bianca: LA is the wellness capital of the WORLD, so expect to see lots of vegan and organic cafes, and fast food. There are so many! There’s a place called Erewhon where E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G is organic, or vegan, or paleo, or made with collagen and turmeric! It’s AH-MAZING, but expensive. As for somewhere to visit, I always say Malibu Farm Cafe at Malibu Pier is a must-visit for sunset drinks, and a cauliflower based pizza. When it comes to Sydney, I always love Bread and Circus in Alexandria, or Porch and Parlour at Bondi Beach. NBN: What are your key objectives and plans for the next 12 months? Bianca: To build out the Sporteluxe platform, and to continue to inspire and support our community of wellness devotees with the proper education and advice that they need to become the best versions of themselves. NBN: Final question! Do you have a favourite quote or phrase that motivates and inspires you in your daily life? Bianca: Yep. Your health is your greatest wealth! All images courtesy of Bianca Cheah.
The Lazy Girls Make-up Essentials
We’ve all been there. Feeling super lazy. Needing to leave the house, and wanting to look a tad respectable. A few quick make-up essentials will do the trick, and you’ll be ready to roll. Or, perhaps you know the quintessential ‘lazy girl’. She gives herself the minimum amount of time to get ready each morning (after hitting the snooze button multiple times), and just needs a few basics to create a natural make-up look, and she’s out the door. The ‘Lazy Girl Make-up Essentials’ are those make-up products that are easy to apply (due to time constraints), have multiple uses (highlighter that doubles as an eyeshadow for example), and are reliable and long wearing (tried and tested). We’ve got a few products in our cruelty-free make-up collection that are perfect for those lazy girl make-up moments. We’ve compiled the below list to help you create a quick natural make-up look in under 10 minutes, or if you’re really rushed in under five minutes! Flawless Concealer Flawless Concealer - This long wearing, stick concealer camouflages dark circles, imperfections and pigmentation. It’s very easy to use as it can be blended into the skin with your fingertips or with a Concealer Brush, until you’ve achieved the coverage you want. It’s a loose mineral powder foundation with SPF 15, that can be built from sheer to full coverage, depending on the look you’re creating. It’s composed of active natural ingredients, including skin nourishing Jojoba Esters and Kaolin Clay that soothes and absorbs excess oil. It feels great on the skin, and is easy to apply. Touch of Glow Highlight Stick Touch of Glow Highlight Stick - We have a couple of different contour and highlight products at Nude by Nature, and the Touch of Glow Highlight Stick ticks all the boxes as being an essential for a lazy girl make-up look. The mascara is enriched with Pro Vitamin B5 to condition the lashes over time.
