Now it’s time to create a couple of brow looks! First up is a Natural Brow. Check out our step by step tutorial below using the Precision Brow Mascara. Step 1: Brush lightly through hairs in an upward motion using short, controlled strokes. Step 2: Repeat to build coverage and hold as required. Step 3: Give a final brush through using the tip of the brush and following the shape of the brow to instantly shape for natural definition. You may prefer instead to create a Sculpted Brow. Follow the steps below: Step 1: Using the angled end of the small brush, draw a soft line to define the underneath of the brow to create definition and help shape the brow. How To Make Your Matte Make-up Last All Day
Written by Guest Contributor: Tara MacInnis It’s such a pain to spend precious morning time putting on make-up that’s supposed to minimise shine and cover imperfections, only to find that it’s stopped doing its job by 10 a.m. Few things are worse, in my opinion. Getting your make-up to stay put through a busy day is a feat, even if you have perfect skin. Add oiliness to the mix, and even the most long-wearing make-up will still move. That’s because, as your pores produce sebum, that sebum can break down your make-up. If you’re using skincare formulated for oily complexions, that’s a great start. But, how you apply your make-up, and what make-up you’re using can really seal the deal. Read on for four steps and product recommendations to take your make-up routine to that stay-all-day level. Step 1: Prime Properly prepping your face for your make-up beyond your favourite moisturiser is a really common oversight, and it’s a shame, because priming can make a huge difference. When you add a layer of primer underneath your make-up, you’re creating a more even base for your foundation, and your foundation won’t have to work as hard to stay – a primer can even do a bit of the coverage for it, too. When you’re choosing a primer, stay away from anything with silicones. Silicones will clog your pores and dehydrate your skin, sending that sebum production into overdrive, something you don’t want if your skin is already oily. The Airbrush Mineral Primer has zero silicones, and it’s formulated with Vitamin C and antioxidants, so it’ll treat your skin while it preps it for what’s next. Step 2: Conceal After you’ve let your skin absorb your Airbrush Mineral Primer for about five minutes, identify any areas with redness or imperfections, and grab a concealer. Go for one that’s long-wearing and has ingredients that’ll absorb any of that excess oil. The Flawless Concealer is just the ticket, with bamboo powder to minimise shine, and antioxidants to keep your skin looking its best. Dot a light layer on to those imperfections either right from the tube, or with your ring finger, blending well. You’ll get longer wear if you start with a thin layer and then build, rather than applying lots immediately. Focus on your t-zone, and under your eyes if you’re trying to cover dark circles. Bonus: If your concealer works hard enough, like the Flawless Concealer does, you’ll be able to get away with less foundation. Step 3: Cover The most important order of business when you want a matte finish that’ll last is finding a foundation that’s oil-free, like the Flawless Liquid Foundation. It makes sense – one that’s made with oil will add to the shine you already have. Along with being oil-free, the Flawless Liquid Foundation is also fragrance-free, long-lasting and loaded with ingredients like bamboo powder and antioxidant-rich Kakadu Plum that treat your skin while leaving behind a smooth, satin-matte finish. As with your concealer, apply foundation lightly, and then layer on more later if you need more coverage. You can use your fingers, but liquid foundations are usually easiest to apply with a liquid foundation or buffing brush. It’ll help you to get into all the crevices of your face, and get a super even, perfectly blended finish. Tip: For best results, when applying the Flawless Liquid Foundation, start with the Airbrush Mineral Primer, and then apply a small amount of the Flawless Liquid Foundation (1 pump) to the back of the hand. Apply and blend the foundation with a Buffing Brush, using quick circular motions to ensure an even application. Coverage can be built from medium to full as required, we recommend using a stippling (dabbing) action to apply additional coverage. Step 4: Set This step is almost as important as priming, and definitely shouldn’t be skipped. So, dust the Pressed Mattifying Mineral Veil all over your face, focusing on the areas that tend to get shiny through the day, like your nose and forehead. Be sure to use more of a stippling motion rather than dragging the brush across your face, because that dragging could make your make-up move. The finishing powder’s Kaolin Clay will do that oil-absorbing work, while shea butter nourishes your skin, keeping it hydrated so those sebum-producing pores don’t overdo it. An alternative is the Mineral Finishing Veil. It’s also formulated with Kaolin Clay to absorb excess oil, and its light-reflecting micro particles will help reduce the appearance of fine lines. Dust it over top of your make-up to add an extra hit of shine-control, and to help your make-up last. You’re set for the day! But, if you’re still worried about movement, we feel you. Ever Wondered What's In Your Make-up?
Many of us these days are a lot more conscious about the food that we eat - in terms of for example; its source, organic certification, nutritional value or total sugar content. This has then rolled on to the skincare and make-up products that we consume. When it comes particularly to the make-up we decide to purchase, a lot of people are starting to look more widely for products that are vegan friendly, cruelty-free, made with natural ingredients or considered to be part of the clean beauty movement. The tricky thing though is that when we are standing in-store at a cosmetics aisle trying to figure out what product is going to suit our needs best - it's harder than expected to understand the nitty gritty about ingredient lists, claims on packaging, product manufacturing and industry certifications. What is often misunderstood as well, is that if a brand says they're vegan friendly that doesn't automatically mean their products for example are made with 100% natural ingredients, or that they're cruelty-free. To help you understand the most used terminology around cosmetics, we thought it could be a good idea to break open some common misconceptions, and to share these with you: Question: What does it mean when a product is 'natural'? Answer: The term 'natural' is used globally yet there isn't a universally agreed definition. A common definition is the following: A natural product is made only with ingredients derived from nature and formulated without any synthetic (artificial) ingredients. All Nude by Nature products are made with 100% natural ingredients and formulated without synthetic ingredients or preservatives often found in cosmetics such as Silicone, Siloxanes, Phthalates, Sulphates, PEGS, Triclosan, Phenoxyethanol or Parabens, and do not contain Carmine, Talc or Bismuth Oxychloride. Question: How do we know if a product is really cruelty-free? Answer: If a brand is cruelty-free, they should be accredited by an internationally-recognised cruelty-free program or organisation such as PETA, Leaping Bunny or Choose Cruelty Free. Formally accredited brands must adhere to specific development and distribution criteria, and must also pass strict review and approval processes to prove their cruelty-free commitment and become acknowledged as genuine cruelty-free advocates. Answer: Unless the product is certified vegan, you’re relying on the brand to correctly declare if a product is considered vegan friendly or not. One of the biggest misconceptions about vegan products is that it infers the product is also ‘natural’. Not all vegan products are natural or plant-based, these product attributes are vastly different from one another. This can be misleading as to many the term is associated with being vegan which isn’t always the case. A product can be cruelty-free without being vegan. Question: Some labels simply say that the product is ‘chemical-free' - what does this mean? Answer: The term ‘chemical free’ is often used by cosmetic and skincare brands to highlight that a product is free of synthetic (artificial) chemicals. Question: What does ‘plant-based’ mean? Answer: Plant-based refers to using botanical ingredients that originate from plants (roots, flowers, fruits, leaves or seeds). Plant-based does not necessarily mean natural. While these products may contain a percentage of ingredients that are of plant origin, it’s possible the remaining ingredients are of synthetic origin. It’s always best to check the label. Women in their 40’s have life experience in spades; smart tips on career, parenting, love, friendship and travel are always ready to be shared. Regular exercise, a healthy balanced diet, drinking lots of water, focusing on a wellness practice such as meditation and 7-8 hours of sleep a night all help towards giving bodies the best opportunity to shine. By the time women hit their 40’s, they have a beauty regime they’re pretty comfortable with. Our Top 5 Contouring & Highlighting Tips
We are all uniquely beautiful, and we each like to create make-up looks to enhance and define our favourite facial features. In the past couple of years contouring and highlighting make-up products have been much discussed, and the total products available in this category have increased dramatically. It can be said that J-Lo, Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga have each put a big spotlight on looks created using contouring and highlighting products. A quick search of Pinterest reveals multiple examples of each. Each of these make-up terms can be defined as: Contouring Make-up: Is used to add shade and depth to specific areas of the face to sculpt, define and add dimension. Contouring is commonly used on the nose, cheekbones, chin and forehead. Matte, neutral shades are usually used. Highlighting Make-up: Is used to add dimension, radiance or luminosity to emphasise facial features. Highlighting is also known as strobing. Areas of the face where people frequently use highlighter are the cheekbones, nose, cupids bow, temple and hairline (forehead). Shimmer shades such as rose or champagne are often popular choices. When it comes to looking after your favourite make-up brushes, we recommend cleaning them using the following step by step process: 1) Pour out a small amount of soft shampoo into a shallow bowl. 2) Soak the tip of the brush and gently swirl, being careful not to wet the base of the brush. 3) Rinse the brush under warm running water pointing downwards. Repeat steps two and three until water runs clear from the brush. 4) Use a cloth to wipe the brush clean, reshaping bristles as needed. 5) Lay the brush flat on a cloth until completely dry. In terms of frequency, it’s suggested to clean foundation and concealer brushes (that you use the most) every week. This will mean less chance of product build up and potential transfer of bacteria to your skin. Other make-up brushes you can instead clean a couple of times a month.

Tip No. 1 - Create a Touch-up Kit: Whether you’re a natural make-up person, or you prefer to be bolder with the looks you create, there’s bound to be a few key beauty essentials that you love to have at your fingertips. Creating a make-up touch-up kit that fits in your bag, and doesn’t add too much weight, is a great way to ensure you’re always ready - for any event. A small pack of tissues or oil blotting papers is a good starting point to have in your kit to blot away any excess oil or shine.
