Simple Beauty Tips for Healthy Skin

With the beginning of a new year, this month is the perfect time to start focusing on what’s important – and what could be more important than your health? Staying healthy doesn’t just mean green smoothies and hours at the gym. Take things one step at a time and start with easy changes to your beauty routine for a better you. Here Are Our Top Tips To Stay Healthy In 2017: When good make-up meets good skincare, great things can happen for your skin. For a lot of women, make-up is an integral part of their daily routine, so instead of using make-up to mask skin imperfections, why not use make-up with skincare infused benefits for a better complexion? Unlike traditional make-up, Nude by Nature products are carefully developed to include powerful native Australian ingredients, without toxins, synthetic ingredients or preservatives like Talc, Silicon, Phthalates, Sulphates, PEGS, Siloxanes, Triclosans, Phenoxyethanol or Parabens. This makes it ideal for those that are conscious about their lifestyle choices and improving their skin. Before you hit the sheets, make sure to always remove your make-up with a gentle and natural make-up remover and soft cotton pad. Even if you’re using make-up that is good for your skin, by removing your make-up before bed, this will remove any bacteria that has built-up on the surface of your skin during the day which can clog pores, cause blemishes, pimples and blackheads. If you’re planning to be out and about, it is ideal to use a foundation with natural sun protection or SPF properties such as the Sheer Glow BB Cream or the Natural Mineral Cover because long sun exposure can cause wrinkles, fine lines, age spots and other long-term skin problems. The Natural Mineral Cover has SPF 15 and adapts naturally to skin tones to even out complexion, cover redness and pigmentation, and conceal enlarged pores. It’s formula is also composed of high performing active natural ingredients such as Jojoba Esters to nourish the skin, and Kaolin Clay for a radiant flawless complexion The Sheer Glow BB Cream is a great all-in-one BB cream to help instantly even out skin tone, minimise the appearance of fine lines and imperfections for a natural luminous finish with SPF 8. The lightweight, non-greasy texture is enriched with moisturising Aloe Vera, Phytomoist and Desert Date Oil to benefit the skin and perfect the complexion. Every time you use your make-up brushes and beauty sponges, it accumulates dirt and bacteria which can cause your skin to breakout. Many experts recommend cleaning your make-up brushes at least once a month. Not sure how to clean your brushes? Watch our video tutorial for easy steps on how to clean your make-up brushes at home. “Beauty sleep” is definitely a real thing! Getting 6 – 8 hours of quality sleep will allow your skin to focus on repairing itself, while it isn’t defending itself from the sun and harmful molecules from the environment. During the repair process, your body produces new collagen to make your skin more plump and reduce the appearance of “bags”, puffiness and dark circles around the eyes. Sleep deprivation also decreases blood flow around the face causing your skin to look dull and dry and cheeks to be less ‘rosy’. For softer and more luminous skin, the secret is to exfoliate with a face scrub at least once or twice per week. If you are using a gentle face scrub, use as part of your cleansing routine before bed to remove the layers of dead skin that tends to exaggerate the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Although our skin naturally sheds dead skin cells, its ability to do it slows down as we age. Therefore, exfoliating can help you break out the new cells for a more youthful look. Wash and gently massage your face with a gentle cleanser and warm water once or twice a day. You’ll gently wash away dirt, make-up and everyday impurities without stripping the skin of essential moisture. The cleanser is also composed of performing active natural ingredients, including the native Australian Kakadu Plum, known for its extraordinary Vitamin C content, Quandong and Desert Lime to help provide antioxidant defence against free radicals. Don’t stop your skincare routine at your chin. The skin on your neck and chest is thinner and just as prone to wrinkles, sagging and dark spots. Make sure to also cleanse, moisturise and protect this area from the sun. Instead of popping your pimples or masking the problem with make-up made of toxins and synthetics, make the switch to mineral make-up. By using a lightweight, mineral foundation such as the Natural Mineral Cover. Not only will this cover redness and uneven skin tone, the active natural ingredients in this foundation will assist in nourishing your skin to get you closer to a flawless complexion. Also keep your skin moisturised with an Oil-Free Moisturiser and use a gentle Face Scrub to keep the pores clear and blackheads and pimples at bay. Our fingers are in constantly contact with keyboards, money and handrails to name a few, all of which are usually coated in bacteria. By touching your face, this can transfer viruses and allergens to your skin as well as excess bacteria and oil which can cause inflammation, blemishes, clogged pores and break outs. To put it simply, stop touching the face – your skin will thank you for it. We hope you enjoyed our easy beauty tips for healthy skin. Let us know in the comments below what easy beauty tips you have and let’s always continue to work towards a better you.

How To Guides, BB Cream

What is BB Cream and How To Apply It

The NEW Sheer Glow BB Cream is Nude by Nature’s latest all-in-one complexion product, that instantly helps even out skin tone, minimises the appearance of fine lines and imperfections for a natural luminous finish. So how do you best apply this multi-purpose complexion product? Before we begin, let’s first address some of the most frequently asked BB Cream questions: What Is BB Cream? The abbreviation “BB” is short for “blemish balm”, “blemish base” or “beauty balm”. Essentially, BB Creams are a hybrid between a skincare and make-up product designed to provide natural make-up coverage with added skincare benefits. BB Creams can be used as a moisturiser, primer and every day foundation. In fact, this multi-functional cream was first developed by dermatologists for patients to use after laser treatments to cover blemishes, redness and skin discolourations without damaging the skin during post-surgical recovery. BB Creams quickly became a popular beauty trend and make-up bag staple but not all BBs are made the same. Nude by Nature’s Sheer Glow BB Cream is enriched with high-performing active natural ingredient such as Phytomoist and Desert Date Oil to perfect the complexion, while specifically omitting synthetic ingredients and preservatives commonly found in traditional make-up. Are BB Creams Better Than Foundation? BB Creams are known to be more beneficial for the skin compared to foundations. However, all Nude by Nature products are 100% naturally derived and full of ‘good for you’ ingredients. Therefore, whether you choose to use a BB Cream or foundation is dependent on your make-up preferences: Coverage: BB Creams are typically described as having similar coverage to a product that is in between a tinted moisturiser and foundation. The Sheer Glow BB Cream offers sheer to light coverage to help even out skin tone and minimise imperfections with an effortless, natural look. On the other hand, foundations such as the Natural Mineral Cover or Pressed Mineral Cover have a buildable medium-to-full coverage which gives you a more “make-up” look. Finish: BB Creams are known to give your skin a healthy glow with a dewy finish. The Sheer Glow BB Cream is designed to give a natural, luminous finish that instantly enhances the complexion without looking or feeling heavy on the skin. Foundations on the other hand, such as our Pressed Mineral Cover, provide a semi-matte finish that helps control oil and shine. Sun Protection: BB Creams usually come with sun protection properties, whereas foundations generally do not contain SPF. The Sheer Glow BB Cream comes with an SPF 8 and a lightweight, non-greasy texture which makes it a great accompaniment to foundations such as the Pressed Mineral Cover or Liquid Mineral Foundation if you’re looking for added sun protection. Overall, both BB Creams and foundations each have their own benefits and key results. We recommend alternating between the two depending on the make-up look you would like to achieve. You can even use the Sheer Glow BB Cream as a natural primer for your foundation for added skincare benefits. Are BB Creams Worth It? BB Creams can be used to hydrate your skin like a moisturiser, smooth and prepare your skin like a primer and even out your complexion like a foundation while also providing SPF protection. The Sheer Glow BB Cream is a great all-in-one product for those who prefer a simple beauty regime. In addition to this, the Sheer Glow BB Cream contains active natural ingredients, including Phytomoist and the native Australian Kakadu Plum known for its abundant Vitamin C content, Quandong and Desert Lime to help fight the visible signs of ageing. The lightweight, non-greasy texture is enriched with moisturising Aloe Vera and Desert Date Oil to benefit the skin and perfect the complexion. How To Apply BB Cream For best results, Nude by Nature recommends using the Sheer Glow BB Cream with the BB Brush. The soft, dense bristles of the BB Brush are perfect for delivering flawless blending and even coverage for a natural, luminous finish. The BB Brush is also ergonomically designed for the best control and is made of ultra-soft high quality synthetic fibres which makes it cruelty-free. Watch our tutorial to see how you can achieve airbrushed and luminous looking skin with our Sheer Glow BB Cream and BB Brush.

The Top 5 Benefits of Make-up Primer

Ever wondered if make-up primer is worth buying, or why people use it? You’re not the only one! In the past five years, we’ve seen conversations about make-up primer grow, and as a result this handy beauty product is now the starting point for many of our daily make-up routines. So, why do we use primer? Make-up primer is used after your moisturiser and before applying foundation. It’s main purpose is to create a smooth, even base for make-up application. You can think of it being like a painter using primer before they start painting. It’s the essential first step. It’s important to note that what you apply underneath your foundation can influence your final finish, and that some products (such as serums, moisturisers or sunscreens) can be incompatible with other products when layered or just need extra time to dry before applying the next product. For best results, it’s therefore highly recommended to prepare the skin with a make-up primer. You can also use primer on your eyes and lips. We’ve prepared the following list of the top 5 benefits of make-up primer: Easy to apply: Before applying any make-up, cleanse the skin to remove impurities and prepare the skin. Then moisturise to hydrate and protect the skin. Next step is to prime - it’s quick and easy! Squeeze a small amount of primer to the back of your hand. Then use fingertips to apply your primer across the face prior to foundation application. Remember to take the primer all the way down your neck. Skin looks fresh and hydrated: You shouldn’t consider a primer as being a replacement to your moisturiser, however they luckily do often contain moisturising and nourishing ingredients to benefit the skin and reinforce your skincare. Perfects the complexion: Face primer smooths the skin, softening the appearance of fine lines and disguising skin imperfections, giving the skin a more youthful look. Happy days! Make-up goes on smoother: Primer creates an even base that will make your foundation application quicker and easier, and your make-up will look much smoother. Extends make-up wear: When you use a primer it supports your moisturiser which helps shield the skin from the environment, prepares the skin for your foundation creating a base to help your make-up stay on longer. All of these will mean your make-up will still be looking great at the end of the day. Our 100% naturally derived face primer is the Airbrush Mineral Primer. It’s a smoothing silicone-free primer that blends seamlessly into the skin to create an even base for make-up application. The Airbrush Mineral Primer is composed of active natural ingredients including Kakadu Plum, known for its great Vitamin C content, rich antioxidants Vitamins A and E plus Green Tea to help fight the visible signs of ageing. We’ve created a quick tutorial video, showing how to prep and prime your skin using the Airbrush Mineral Primer and Liquid Mineral Concealer. Watch below: If you’ve been wondering about the benefits of an eye primer, our Perfecting Eye Primer is silicone-free, formulated with anti-ageing ingredients and smooths skin to create an even base for eye make-up application. It helps tighten the skin in the eye area and smooth the appearance of wrinkles while helping to extend eye make-up wear. Key ingredients include an Oat derived anti-ageing ingredient known for its tightening and anti-wrinkle properties, as well as a natural powder derived from Carnauba Wax to help keep your eye make-up in place for an extended wear. We recommend using fingertips or our Base Shadow Brush to apply the Perfecting Eye Primer onto the eyelid. Now you know all the benefits, why not try it for yourself! View all our primers here.

How To Guides, Mascara

HOW TO: Apply Mascara

Mascara has been part of our beauty regimes since as far back as the Egyptians who used kohl and mascara to deepen their lashes. Today mascara is an everyday make-up staple, and one many of us can’t leave the house without. Whether we want to enhance, lengthen or add volume to eyelashes, mascara is the perfect solution to make our eyes pop. Depending on the look you are creating, mascara application can vary. The Nude by Nature Allure Defining Mascara is a vitamin enriched mascara composed of active natural ingredients including Candelilla Wax and Acacia Gum that provides intense definition and length. It’s also enriched with Pro Vitamin B5 to condition the lashes over time. We’ve created a quick video tutorial with our top tips to applying the Allure Defining Mascara to help you create the perfect natural mascara look for your lashes. You’ll find our mascara application tips below: When opening, swirl the wand when releasing, don’t pump it. If you pump the wand you’ll push air into the mascara tube and it will dry out faster and increase the chances of clumping and flaking. If you’re going to use an eyelash curler use it before you apply mascara. If you use a curler after you’ve applied the mascara there is a chance the mascara will stick causing lashes to break. Apply by running the mascara brush through your upper lashes starting at the roots using a wriggling motion. Follow this by applying lightly along your lower lashes. Repeat to build volume as required. We recommend removing mascara with a specific eye make-up removal product. TOP TIP: Turn the Allure Defining Mascara wand vertically to coat every little lash and to enhance the outer corner lashes for a cat eye effect. Finally, like all beauty products, its important to make sure you’re not using old mascara. For example, the period after opening for the Allure Defining Mascara is three months, and it’s then that you should look to replace with a new one. Let us know how you go!

How To Guides, News & Other, Concealer

The Top 5 Benefits of Make-up Concealer

The ever trusty, multi-purpose concealer. Oh, how we love thee. Whether it’s the everyday make-up bag or travel kit, concealer is a beauty essential that we have with us 24/7. It’s told that the first concealers were used in the 1920’s as make-up to camouflage burns, birthmarks and varicose veins. Following this concealers were also created for famous Hollywood actresses keen to look their very best on-screen and similarly, they were after a product that could hide skin imperfections, fine lines and to brighten their skin. These days depending on what you are trying to achieve, concealers are found in a few different forms - liquid, stick, crayon, cream or cream-to-powder. For example our Flawless Concealer is a stick concealer providing a creamy full coverage with a satin matte finish, and it’s perfect for camouflaging dark circles, pigmentation and imperfections. The top 5 key benefits for using make-up concealer are considered as being: Works with foundation to provide additional coverage to achieve the appearance of a smooth, even skin tone Refreshes tired looking eyes To disguise puffiness, blemishes, scars and imperfections Camouflage pigmentation and dark circles Lighten dark areas A few lesser known and further great ways concealer is used include: As a highlighter over cheekbones, brow, chin and nose bridge To prevent lipstick from bleeding; either by priming the lips with concealer, or by adding a little concealer above the lip line As a base before applying eyeshadow Hide tattoos and birthmarks When it comes to applying make-up concealer there are different thoughts around whether concealer should be applied before or after foundation. Our suggestion is: If you are using a liquid foundation, use concealer following application of your foundation. If instead you’re using a powder foundation, apply your concealer first. At Nude by Nature we have two make-up concealers; Liquid Mineral Concealer and Flawless Concealer plus the Concealer Brush. The Liquid Mineral Concealer is a fragrance-free creamy liquid concealer enriched with FloraEsters which helps reduce fine lines and dryness plus Vitamin E, Jojoba and Shea Butter. This good for you concealer blends seamlessly into the skin to instantly cover dark circles and imperfections plus highlights to refresh tired looking eyes. It’s available in three shades (light, medium, dark) and the recommended tip for application is to use fingertips or the Concealer Brush to apply the Liquid Mineral Concealer onto the skin. The Flawless Concealer was launched in August 2017, in conjunction with the Flawless Liquid Foundation. This long wearing easy-to-use stick concealer expertly camouflages imperfections, pigmentation and dark circles however feels like a second skin due to pigments that act in seamless affinity with the complexion. The concealer is suitable for sensitive skin, and is available in 8 shades. Formulated with 100% naturally derived ingredients including Bamboo Powder for a soft focus effect and the antioxidant rich Kakadu Plum to benefit the skin. Our application recommendation is to apply the Flawless Concealer directly to the skin and to blend with fingertips or the Concealer Brush. If you’re after the perfect concealer application tool, our Concealer Brush provides precision smooth application and blending for all concealer formulas. Like all our make-up brushes, the Concealer Brush is ergonomically designed for the best control and as we are proudly cruelty-free it’s made of ultra-soft high-quality synthetic fibres. Create The Look: Autumn Make-up Inspiration

It’s Autumn already. How did that happen? It was New Year’s Eve only five minutes ago! A change in season generally includes us seeking inspiration via social media, online and from magazines for trends and looks we can incorporate into our wardrobe, hairstyles and of course make-up. Inevitably, this currently includes us doing a wardrobe makeover; figuring out what we will wear again this Autumn, what needs to be updated, and what can be turfed or given to a favourite charity. In the past year fashion runways around the world have seen Autumn make-up looks focused on warm, dramatic and colourful eye looks finished with a berry or natural lip. Luckily for us, the 2018 Fall Fashion Weeks are just wrapping up in Paris, and that means we’ve got lots of looks to use as inspiration here in Australia. We’ve plucked three looks straight from the runway as Autumn eye make-up inspiration, and put together a step by step for how you too can create each eye look with a selection of the Nude by Nature make-up collection. 1) First up, is the gorgeous Kaia Gerber at the Alexander Wang show, at New York Fashion Week. Step One: To have a long wearing, crease free eye, prepare with the Perfecting Eye Primer.  Step Two: Using the Shimmering Sands Loose Eyeshadow in White Sand, press the pigment onto the mobile lid and then gently blend the edges nearly up to the brow and inner corner. Step Three: Blend the Natural Illusion Pressed Eyeshadow in shade Sunset though the crease, outer corners of the lid and along the bottom lash line. Step Four: On the top lid only, line with the Contour Eye Pencil in Brown and smudge it out for a very soft effect. Complete with lashings of the Allure Defining Mascara on top and bottom lashes. Image credit: Getty Images / JP Yim via Popsugar. 2) Next, is a look created for London Fashion Week focused around a subtle smudged eye. Step One: Use the Contour Eye Pencil in Brown along the upper and lower lashes. Don’t be too concerned about the detail as you will then use the smudger tip to completely blur around the eye. You’re wanting to create a faint definition, not a solid line. Step Two: With the Natural Illusion Pressed Eyeshadow in shade Sunset create a gentle wash across the lid and through the crease and continue under the eye. Again, it’s not about solid pigment with this look, just subtle washes of colour. Step Three: With the Shimmering Sands Loose Eyeshadow in White Sand, dip the Eye Shadow Brush from the Essential Collection Brush Set into the pigment then tap off the excess. On the centre of the lid create a pop of shimmer and blend toward the inner corner, with a little also under the brow. Step Four: Complete with lashings of the Allure Defining Mascara on top lashes only. Image credit: IMAXTREE / Matteo Valle via Popsugar.  3) Final look is also from London Fashion Week; at the Temperley show. Step One: To have a long wearing, crease free eye, prepare with the Perfecting Eye Primer. Step Two: Using the Shimmering Sands Loose Eyeshadow in Coral Sand, press the pigment onto the mobile lid and then gently blend the edges nearly right up to the brow and inner corner (remember; you are blending it softly out, not a solid application of the pigment). Then apply softly to the bottom lash line. Step Three: With the Shimmering Sands Loose Eyeshadow in White Sand, highlight under the brow bone and the inner corner and blend into the Shimmering Sands Loose Eyeshadow Coral Sand to create a slight amber effect. Step Four: On the top lid only, create a tight line with the Contour Eye Pencil in Brown then get slightly heavier on the outer lids. Complete with lashings of the Allure Defining Mascara on top and bottom lashes. Image credit: IMAXTREE / Matteo Valle/IMAXTREE.COM via Popsugar.  As a nice extra bonus, you’ll find all of the products mentioned in each of the above make-up tutorials in our just released Autumn Collection make-up kits. You can select from the Autumn Collection or Autumn Discovery Collection. Each make-up kit is packed with 100% naturally derived beauty essentials inspired by Australia’s stunning colour palette plus feature the Essential Collection Brush Set, and are perfect for creating all your favourite Autumn make-up looks.
