HOW TO CREATE THE FLAWLESS MAKE-UP LOOK

Late last year a few well known Australian beauty influencers including Chloe Morello, Nikkia Joy, Rachael Brook and Shani Grimmond road tested one of our best selling complexion collections; the Flawless Liquid Foundation and Flawless Concealer. More recently, we’ve seen Nikkia sharing her favourite application tips with a gorgeous make-up tutorial, plus Bianca Cheah, Steph Ling and Lucia Pang all trialing the collection as well. Influencers: L->R Top: Bianca Cheah, Chloe Morello, Lucia Pang.  L->R Bottom: Shani Grimmond, Rachael Brook, Nikkia Joy.  The Flawless Liquid Foundation is a long wearing, liquid foundation that delivers a flawless medium to full coverage with a satin matte finish. Formulated with good for you 100% naturally derived ingredients including Bamboo Powder for a soft focus effect, Baobab Fruit Extract, and the antioxidant rich Australian native Kakadu Plum, it delivers lasting, flawless coverage with each application. The Flawless Liquid Foundation is available exclusively online in 20 shades. Like all Nude by Nature products the Flawless Liquid Foundation is cruelty-free and not tested on animals. Flawless Liquid Foundation & Buffing Brush  When it comes to selecting a concealer you can’t go past the Flawless Concealer. Like the Flawless Liquid Foundation it is also long wearing, fragrance free and has been dermatologist tested so it’s suitable for those with sensitive skin. The Flawless Concealer is a stick concealer that camouflages dark circles and imperfections, providing a creamy full coverage formula, plus it’s quick and easy to use. We love the flawless make-up look created by Bianca Cheah for example, where she started by priming the skin with the Airbrush Mineral Primer as it creates a smooth, even base for make-up application and helps to extend wear. She then applied the Flawless Liquid Foundation with the Buffing Brush. Our top tip is to apply a small amount of the foundation (one pump) to the back of the hand, then use the Buffing Brush to apply and blend, using quick circular motions to ensure even application. As the Flawless Liquid Foundation can be built from medium to full coverage, the next step for Bianca was to create her desired coverage before applying the Flawless Concealer under her eyes. It’s possible to apply the concealer either with the fingertips or with a Concealer Brush. View the tutorial below to watch Bianca creating her complexion look.   Credit: Bianca Cheah Bianca set the look with the Mineral Finishing Veil before completing her look. She chose our versatile Contour Palette for her eyes and cheeks, plus the Natural Wonders Eye Palette for depth and colour. Bianca finished her eyes with the vitamin enriched Allure Defining Mascara and highlighted her lips and cheeks with the Highlight Palette to add dimension, colour and luminosity. For the full video tutorial including the final steps click here to watch on Bianca’s Instagram account. Another of our favourite beauty influencers is the lovely Nikkia Joy, who created a full natural, glowing make-up look using all Nude by Nature products including the Flawless Collection, for her base. She published the tutorial to her YouTube channel. Click here to watch the full video tutorial, or watch below as Nikkia shares her top tips for applying the foundation and concealer. IS YOUR MAKE-UP TOXIC?

Have you ever stopped, and really thought about what’s in the make-up you use? We think about the food we’re putting into our bodies, or the skincare products that we’re using on our bodies - however the make-up products we choose are often overlooked. Make-up shouldn’t be forgotten. People generally start using cosmetics in their teens, and during their lifetime their make-up routine changes frequently; depending on environment, occasion, ethics and trends. If you even think about your own daily routine, and how many single make-up products you use on average, it is pretty incredible. So, if you’re consciously aware of so many other aspects of how you look after your body, isn’t it worth re-thinking the make-up products you are using? Many beauty brands use unnecessary chemicals, synthetic ingredients and preservatives in their products, or many brands claim that they are natural when they’re far from it. They instead ‘green wash’ their advertising, and avoid talking about the bad ingredients that they use. Great skincare covered by harsh make-up means you’re building something wonderful only to tear it down. Nude by Nature chooses not to use unnecessary chemicals, and avoids ingredients that can irritate or put your skin at risk. For example, you may discover a couple of these ingredients we avoid listed on your make-up packaging: Carmine: Carmine is a red pigment derived from insects (beetles that live as parasites on cactus plants) and is used as a colorant in cosmetics, such as lipstick. Carmine is considered controversial due to its animal origin, and its association with possible allergic reactions. Bismuth Oxychloride: This is a powder created from bismuth, oxygen and chlorine that is used in cosmetics because it helps make-up to adhere to the skin. Due to its crystalline shape, some people experience irritation or itching, particularly when they sweat. Parabens: They are synthetically produced preservatives, commonly used in cosmetics to extend the shelf life of products. Parabens are considered controversial due to concerns over possible allergies and other health issues. Talc: Often used in make-up to absorb moisture and as a filler to add bulk to pigments. Talc can be abrasive and harsh on sensitive skin, potentially leading to irritation or breakouts. Silicones: Synthetically produced polymers commonly used as skin smoothers to give cosmetics a silky texture. Unfortunately this film forming property can also trap everything underneath, which can lead to increased breakouts. Synthetic Pigments / Dyes: Commonly used as vivid cosmetic colourants, and are often derived from petroleum and coal tar. Examples of synthetic dyes to look for are: CI 15850 (D&C Red No. 6), CI 17200 (Red 33 Lake), CI 45380 (Red 21), CI 42090 (Blue 1 Lake). Here at Nude by Nature, we are committed to delivering 100% naturally derived and cruelty-free make-up. Our approach is simple. High performing natural formulas without unnecessary chemicals, synthetic ingredients or preservatives often found in cosmetics. It’s make-up that works with your skin, not against it. Instead of synthetic ingredients, we know the powerful results nature can deliver, and use trusted natural ingredients. These make our products good - from the inside out. You’ll find the following beautiful key ingredients in our make-up collection: Aloe Vera: It’s been used for thousands of years to help moisturise, soothe and soften dry skin. Jojoba Oil: You’ll find Jojoba Oil is easily absorbed to moisturise, soften and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Kakadu Plum: Known to have the world’s richest source of Vitamin C, and has strong antioxidant and anti-ageing properties. Kaolin Clay: Is a non-drying, soothing clay that absorbs excess oil and helps extend make-up wear. Quandong: This Australian native promotes brightening and natural skin renewal, with extremely high antioxidant activity. Sweet Almond Oil: Known to smooth, moisturise and soften skin. Avocado Oil: Deeply moisturising and nourishing with high levels of Vitamins A, B and D. Vitamin E: Is a potent skin conditioning active and antioxidant, known to have moisturising and anti-inflammatory properties. Every single ingredient within our make-up range has been carefully selected to deliver exceptional results. We are proudly cruelty-free and PETA certified. Top 6 Benefits Of Our Mineral Powder Foundations

Make-up foundation comes in many different forms. The most common include liquid, stick, cream, BB cream, cushion cream, and a powder (mineral, loose or pressed) foundation. No wonder selecting the perfect foundation for your skin can be confusing. We haven’t even mentioned choosing a shade yet! Foundation is a make-up product that creates an even finish to your skin, matching with your complexion, and is used on the face, neck and sometimes body. As the name suggests, it's the foundation for your make-up. Foundation has quite an interesting history. It’s said to have originated in ancient Rome and Greece, and here’s the thing, back then it was formulated with a poisonous chalk, also known as white lead. As you can imagine there were some pretty horrific side effects including losing teeth, hair loss and skin discolouration. During the 19th Century, foundation formula evolved (thank goodness!) into a liquid form, and it was in the 1930’s when powder foundation was first created, courtesy of Max Factor in Hollywood, who wanted to create a foundation that provided a more natural finish on screen. Its name? Pan-Cake. Specifically considering powder foundations, and in particular mineral powder foundations, here at Nude by Nature we have a couple of best selling options for you to select from. There is Australia’s No. 1 Foundation* and one of our original make-up collection, Natural Mineral Cover Foundation or there is Pressed Mineral Cover. When it comes to comparing different types of foundations to choose from, we recognise the top 6 benefits of our cruelty-free mineral powder foundations as being: 100% natural ingredients: Our mineral powder foundations are composed of 100% natural ingredients, such as Kaolin Clay, and are free from unnecessary chemicals, synthetic ingredients or preservatives often found in cosmetics. Like all Nude by Nature products each is cruelty-free. Suitable for all ages & skin types: Dermatologist tested and suitable for sensitive skin. Buildable coverage: Powder foundations are buildable, from sheer to full coverage so depending on the occasion - you control the coverage. Evens out complexion & conceal pores: Created to adapt naturally to skin tones, and even out the complexion. Non-drying formula: The good for you lightweight powder foundations are enriched with nourishing ingredients, leaving your skin feeling like you don’t even have make-up on. Naturally gluten free: Both of our mineral powder foundations are naturally gluten free. It is recommended to refer to product packaging for the full list of ingredients. Each product is described in further detail below: Natural Mineral Cover Foundation: Our best selling lightweight loose mineral powder foundation that delivers sheer to full coverage, evens out the complexion, covers redness and pigmentation, plus has SPF 15 protection. Key ingredients in this award winner are Kaolin Clay which absorbs excess oil, helps extends make-up wear and also Jojoba Esters, to nourish the skin. Shop Natural Mineral Cover Foundation Recommended Application: Tap a small amount of powder into the lid, dip the tip of a Mineral Make-up Brush into the powder, tap away the excess, and then buff the powder onto skin in light, circular motions. Start at the centre of the face and work outward until your desired level of coverage is achieved. For further details about Natural Mineral Cover Foundation, take a look at the below video: Pressed Mineral Cover: Instantly illuminates the skin with a flawless coverage, containing antioxidant ingredients and long-lasting, for up to 8 hours. The pressed powder foundation is composed of 100% natural ingredients including the native Australian Kakadu Plum, one of the world’s richest sources of Vitamin C, and Cehami Extract, known to promote natural skin renewal and it’s also anti-inflammatory. Pressed Mineral Cover’s mirror compact is also a handy product to have in your bag for make-up touch-ups. INFLUENCER PROFILE: CHRISTINA BUTCHER

We sat down this week with gorgeous Sydney blogger and content creator Christina Butcher. Her blog Hair Romance is one she started a few years ago now, and it's all about loving your hair, plus providing inspiration on hair styling, colour, trends and top tips for anyone to use. As well as Hair Romance, Christina also shares another blog, Mr & Mrs Romance with her husband Jim.  Christina produces blog posts, images and videos that she publishes to her social channels as well as Hair Romance. You can follow Christina on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.  Read all the details from our catch up chat below: Nude by Nature (NBN): We’d love to hear more about your personal story and journey. How did you start Hair Romance, and how long ago was that now? Not only has that meant a blog, but also significant social presence, and a best-selling book. Tell us all! Christina: A haircut changed my life, and it really is true! I started Hair Romance back in 2010 after a colleague commented she’d never seen me wear my hair the same way twice. She said I should start a daily hair blog, which I thought was crazy at the time, but here we are! Hair Romance helps women learn to love their hair, and it has grown bigger than I could have imagined. I’ve written a bestselling hairstyle book, and I now create videos too. But even before Hair Romance was a blog, the fact that a haircut changed my life was in play. When I met my best friend Rohan, who’s a hairdresser, he taught me about curly hair and helped me love my hair too. Coincidentally, about two weeks after I met Rohan, I met my husband Jim in the same street. We now work together on our travel and lifestyle site Mr & Mrs Romance. With Hair Romance, my goal is to spread the message that your hair is your best accessory, and to make all beauty easy and fun. There’s real power in a good hair day. NBN: What do you think are a couple of the most important beauty products that every woman should own? Christina: Good brushes are important, and make such a difference to make-up application (and good brushes help your hair too!). Concealer is the hardest working product in my beauty bag, and every woman needs a great concealer for under the eyes and for blemishes. I think more men would wear make-up if they knew the power of concealer. NBN: What are your favourite Nude by Nature products, and why? Christina: My sister first introduced me to the Natural Mineral Cover Foundation and Mineral Bronzer years ago, and they are still in my beauty bag today. My quick go-to make-up is the the Sheer Glow BB Cream and the Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer, which also doubles as an eyeshadow for me. NBN: What are a couple of your top beauty hacks? Christina: I love to tightline my upper lashes - especially if I’m just wearing light/natural makeup. It’s really subtle but it makes my eyes look so much bigger and makes my lashes look longer too. I also use a gentle microfibre cloth when I cleanse my face at night. It helps to remove all traces of make-up and pollution, and I’ve noticed my skin has been much clearer since making this a non-negotiable step in my routine. NBN: A couple of our biggest points of difference as a brand is that all our make-up products are enriched with 100% natural ingredients, and we are proudly cruelty-free. Do you think people are becoming more aware of what’s in the make-up and hair products that they use, and are re-thinking their product choices? Christina: Absolutely, and it’s key as responsible consumers to make these choices about the products we use. NBN: Hair trends! Any that you think are going to be popular in the next year, and that most people can try? Christina: I’m loving the return of natural texture that I’m seeing on catwalks. Not all frizz is bad, and it can give your hair great volume. It’s all about embracing your natural hair, and I’m all for it. NBN: Do you have big plans for Hair Romance in the coming 12 months? Any exciting projects that you’re working on?  Christina: Look out for a website redesign (such a big project), and I’m also focused on more video content, among other projects that I can’t mention just yet! NBN: Aside from Hair Romance, you and your husband Jim also share your love of travel, food + wine plus lifestyle through the blog Mr & Mrs Romance. What do you think are a couple of must visit places around the world? Christina: It’s hard to pick favourites, but we both love visiting Italy and Japan. They’re very different destinations with a rich culture and history, and an incredible food scene. Plus, the people you meet will make your trip unforgettable. NBN: What’s on your own travel bucket list? Christina: Morocco is near the top of my list at the moment - for some of the same reasons. But my bucket list is very, very long! NBN: Do you have any favourite travel stories about destinations that you got to, and they were even better than expected, or places that you can just keep going back to?  Christina: I’ve already mentioned Italy and Japan, so I’ll add Cuba to the list. I’d always wanted to go there, and it did not disappoint. The music, culture and people are incredible. We went back this year, and it’s changing quickly so I’d urge you to travel there soon, and to take some salsa lessons before you go! NBN: When you travel, how do you decide which beauty and hair products to take? Christina: I buy travel sizes, or I decant my favourites into travel size pots. I try and keep it simple when I travel and plan ahead for the weather too. I love multi use products like the Nude by Nature Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer, which helps me save space in my bag. NBN: Final question! Do you have a favourite quote or phrase that motivates and inspires you in your daily life? Christina: Be the kind of person you want to meet. And also: Life isn’t about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself. Shop Our Make-up Collection Thank you, Christina! INFLUENCER PROFILE: VALERIA LIPOVETSKY

Valeria Lipovetsky is a well known content creator, model and holistic nutritionist, based in Canada. She is known for her down-to-earth, inspirational and fun personality, regularly featuring snippets from her life and family plus stories about beauty, nutrition and fashion that she publishes across her social channels including her YouTube and Instagram accounts.  Valeria started modelling at the age of 16, which saw her travelling the world, and living in a few different cities such as Tokyo, Barcelona and New York.  She's just celebrated her sixth wedding anniversary, and is currently expecting her third child. In the past few months we've been collaborating with Valeria, who has shared posts to her Instagram account and also her YouTube channel, with this video where she shares her top make-up tips for creating the perfect selfie.  We caught up with Valeria recently, and below you can read the interview:  Nude by Nature (NBN): What are your favourite Nude by Nature product(s), and why? Valeria: I have a few favourites! I love the Flawless Concealer. The finish feels really silky, and the coverage is great. Also, the Allure Defining Mascara because of how buildable it is. And, another staple is the Touch of Glow Highlight Stick  because they are multi-purpose — I use them as highlighters and eyeshadows. NBN: Can you share a couple of your top beauty hacks? Valeria: Having such a tight schedule has taught me that it’s so important to focus on products that serve multiple purposes. So, using lipstick as a blush or a highlighter as eyeshadow helps to save time, (and also space when you need to travel light). NBN: What do you think are a couple of the most important beauty products that every Canadian woman should own? Valeria: Because we have such harsh weather conditions, a foundation or tinted moisturiser that doesn’t dry the skin is a necessity. I also always recommend using rose water to refresh during the day. NBN: Have you spotted any beauty trends that you think are going to be really big in the next year? Valeria: I’ve noticed that the cat-eye trend has been featured a lot recently on the runways, except it is more of an undone, grungy cat-eye — not crisp and perfect like we’ve seen more recently in the past. NBN: How has your everyday beauty routine adapted since having children? Valeria: “Less is more” has become my mantra. A lot of people use this statement, but you don’t really implement it until you have children. I have learned how to keep only the necessities, and learned to embrace what I look like, and work with what I have rather than rely on make-up as much. NBN: You’re expecting a baby this year. Congratulations! How is your pregnancy going, especially when you have two little boys already! Valeria: I am super excited about it, but I’m not going to lie… I’m also a bit scared! Everything is going amazing so far, and it’s going by so fast because I don’t really have time to absorb it all since I have the two little guys already. But the entire family is really excited, and I’m pumped to have our own mini soccer team! NBN: Are you able to share a little about your background, how you started in terms of your career, and deciding to bring together being a nutritionist, content creator, model and lover of beauty and fashion. Valeria: I started modelling at the age of 16. I was able to travel the world and absorb so much information about beauty, fashion, lifestyle and culture. Every place I visited left an impression on me. Once I had my kids, I wanted to bring those experiences and knowledge together, which is when I started getting into content creation. This has given me the opportunity to share everything from my personal point of view in the past to what I’m seeing and learning currently. NBN: It looks like you love to travel. Can you share a few of the destinations on your travel bucket-list? Valeria: There are so many I would love to take my boys to. The number one would be Japan. I lived there for about six months when I was younger for work, and never really had the chance to explore it properly as a tourist, which is something I would love to do as a family. I would also love to go to Bali and on a safari trip in Africa. NBN: Do you have any tips when it comes to beauty products to pack when travelling?  Valeria: When I travel, I focus on taking products that will work specifically for that climate. For example, If I’m going to the Caribbean I will take more sun-friendly and humidity-friendly products. If I’m going somewhere during the winter, I will be sure to have good hydrating products. I’m also a huge advocate for travel sized products! NBN: When you’re chilling out, what’s your favourite social media platform to scroll through? Valeria: Instagram and Pinterest. NBN: How about other blogs and social accounts / influencers that you follow and love? Valeria: At the moment, we are designing a new home so I’ve been following a lot of interior design accounts. Some of my favourites are Architectural Digest (@archdigest) and Domino Magazine (@dominomag). NBN: What are you looking forward to most (apart from your baby!) that you’ve got planned for the next 12 months? Valeria: I’m honestly just taking things one day at a time. I’ve learned not to look forward to anything specific, and to focus more on being present and in the moment. Apparently these pregnancy hormones are making me insightful these days! I just love to spend my time enjoying my children and appreciating little things each day. That's awesome! Thanks Valeria.  The Nude by Nature make-up collection is stocked exclusively by Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada. INFLUENCER PROFILE: ALEX CENTOMO

Nude by Nature launched in Canada earlier this year, and we have been collaborating with a few well known Canadian influencers as part of the launch. Alex Centomo is one we've been working with. She has been publishing content to her hugely popular social channels since 2012. Alex has amassed a staggering number of followers specifically on her Instagram and YouTube accounts, with over 1.5 million combined, and that's including just her personal YouTube channel - not the one she shares with her fiancé! She publishes lifestyle, travel, beauty and fashion posts to her channels, and most recently travelled to Europe visiting a few of her favourite countries.  We chatted with Alex recently, and she shared a few of her favourite beauty and travel tips, plus what she's looking forward to most this year.  Read our interview with Alex below: Nude by Nature (NBN): Can you share a little about how you started out in terms of your YouTube channel, Instagram account, and the style of content that you produce now for all your social channels. Alex: I was working at a clothing store, helping out with their social media as well as modelling for them, and all of a sudden I started gaining my own following. I started working extremely hard at it, and was eventually able to start pursuing it full time.  Nude by Nature (NBN): What do you think are a couple of the most important beauty products that every Canadian woman should own? Alex: A really good face sunscreen or BB cream with an SPF. I think it’s important for everyone to protect their skin from the sun. You’ll thank me later, don’t worry. I also think any BB cream or foundation that is good for dry skin is important. It gets very cold here in the winter, so this is a must! Nude by Nature (NBN): What are a couple of your favourite everyday beauty hacks? Alex: SPF, ChapStick, and I use my bronzer for everything - including eyeshadow, to save time. Nude by Nature (NBN): We've been collaborating with you recently which is really great. Are you able to let us know about a few of your favourite Nude by Nature make-up products? Alex: I have been loving the Airbrush Mineral Primer  lately. I've always found it hard to find a good primer, but this one keeps my make-up on for a long time and it smells amazing. I also have been using the Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer  every day to give my face the same colour as the rest of my body. It’s so natural looking. I’ve been getting a ton of questions about it! And, I love the consistency of the Mineral Finishing Veil. It's super lightweight, and let’s my skin breathe while still setting my make-up in place.  Nude by Nature (NBN): Have you spotted any beauty trends that you think are going to be really big in the next year? Alex: I’ve seen a lot of designers use the 80’s make-up on the runways, so I think it’s on its way back. Not sure if I’m too keen on it because I’m a neutral gal, but I’m excited to see how others rock it! Nude by Nature (NBN): You are getting married really soon! Congratulations! How is all the planning going? Alex: Surprisingly, not as stressful as I thought! I’m super grateful about that, but I’m also not a very picky person, so I don’t need it to be a certain way. I’m just excited to walk down the aisle and marry my best friend. Nude by Nature (NBN): You just spent time travelling in Europe. Are you able to let us know about a few of the favourite places you visited? Alex: Lake Como! It was magical. Dan and I loved it so much we were thinking of doing our honeymoon there. It’s a massive lake in between the Alps, and it’s still in Italy, so you get the Italian architecture, culture and food. Best combinations ever. Nude by Nature (NBN): Do you have any tips when it comes to beauty products to pack when travelling? Alex: I always make sure to buy travel size of all my favourite beauty products so that I can pack them in my carry-on. I’m always scared to lose my luggage, so this ensures I have it with me. I try and keep it simple as well because I believe the less you do to your face, the better. I bring a cleanser, a moisturizer, make-up removing oil, and two face masks for the plane. My skin gets so dry on airplanes, so this is very important! I usually do it one hour before landing. Everyone looks at me funny, but I don’t care because I walk off that plane glowing. Nude by Nature (NBN): When you’re chilling out, what’s your favourite social media platform to scroll through? Alex: Instagram. I love photography, and I love seeing the content that people put out there! Nude by Nature (NBN): How about other blogs & social accounts/influencers that you follow and love? Alex: YouTube is second to me. I’ve been in this weird phase of watching these Mukbang type videos. I find them so fascinating, and I love the stories some people tell. But for fashion and beauty, obviously my best friend Tess Christine. She’s amazing. And I love following Negin Mirsalehi as well. Nude by Nature (NBN): Last question! Aside from your wedding, what else are you looking forward to in the next 12 months? Alex: Dan and I have been talking about trying for a baby.  Big Thanks Alex! We really appreciate your time.   Nude by Nature is stocked exclusively in Canada at Shoppers Drug Mart. What is Cruelty-free Make-up?

In the past five years, the interest and awareness about what cruelty-free make-up means, and therefore which cosmetics brands are certified cruelty-free has grown significantly. This has been reported here in Australia, as well as globally. Amanda Nordstrom, Company Liaison for PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies Program, said earlier this year: "In the U.S. alone...a recent poll to our subscribers showed that 96 per cent of respondents are more likely to purchase products that display a cruelty-free logo on its label than a product that isn’t clearly labeled.”* In Australia a Roy Morgan study published in early 2017 found that 46% of Australian women who use cosmetics nominated ‘Not tested on animals’ as an important reason for their own make-up purchase selection, which was up from 41% in an earlier 2012 study. The ‘Not tested on animals’ feature rated third for this question in the study, above SPF.# Have you already been wondering if your make-up is harming animals? When it comes to the definition about what cruelty-free means in terms of cosmetics and make-up products, it is defined as when there is no form of animal testing or exploitation at any point in the creation of a brand’s products. The type of animal testing that does still occur includes trialing a finished product or specific ingredients of a finished product on animals, such as rabbits, dogs, cats and mice. With scientific methods improving every day, animal testing alternatives are stronger than ever. There are a range of alternative testing methods available that are often considered more reliable and efficient than animal tests. Here in Australia, consumer advocacy group Choice recommend looking for independent third party certification on make-up products you are considering purchasing. Three such organisations are PETA, Choose Cruelty Free and Leaping Bunny. Nude by Nature is officially cruelty-free accredited by PETA. Formally accredited brands must adhere to specific development and distribution criteria, and must also pass strict review and approval processes to prove their cruelty-free commitment and become acknowledged as genuine cruelty-free advocates. Another point that Choice made is that not all cruelty-free logos shown on products actually are official. Their advice is to look for an official third party logo, and Choice provided the below guide to use: Source: Choice For us here at Nude by Nature, we are extremely proud of our PETA cruelty-free accreditation and encourage consumers to educate themselves about the cosmetics that they are buying. This includes understanding whether brands are cruelty-free accredited; therefore supporting an end to animal testing practices. How to Create a Glowing Make-up Look

The glowing make-up look. It’s one the majority of us like to create - healthy looking, radiant and natural make-up. This favourite make-up look suits many different occasions; whether it's drinks with friends, a family wedding or to maintain that ‘post holiday glow’.  Aside from using make-up to create a bright, radiant glow, there are other elements you can focus on, such as a healthy diet, drinking lots of water, getting plenty of sleep, regular exercise and a good skincare regime that will mean you are looking after and giving your body the best opportunity to shine. When it comes to producing that natural glowing make-up for yourself, there are a range of products we recommend you look at using. Check out the below list, and let us know if there’s anything missing! 1. Primer: It’s always a good idea to start with a make-up primer to create an even, luminous base for your make-up. Primers often include moisturising ingredients that benefit the skin and support the skincare products you are using. We recommend: Airbrush Mineral Primer Airbrush Mineral Primer - Key Results: Smooths skin without silicones. Creates an even canvas for make-up Helps to extend make-up wear Key Ingredient: Green Tea - antioxidant and anti-ageing Perfecting Eye Primer  Plus, for your eyes there’s the Perfecting Eye Primer - Key Results: Smooths and tightens the eye area Extends eye make-up wear Key Ingredient: Oat Kernel Extract - for smoothing and tightening SHOP OUR PRIMERS   2. Concealer: Say goodbye to blemishes and dark circles with a trusty concealer! Working with your foundation, concealers provide extra coverage to disguise skin imperfections. When creating a glowing make-up look, liquid concealers are great for evening out the complexion and adding dimension, especially under the eyes, and to support any contour or highlighting products that you’re going to use. We recommend: Liquid Mineral Concealer Liquid Mineral Concealer - Key Results: Highlights to refresh tired looking eyes Covers dark circles, disguises puffiness and hyper-pigmentation Key Ingredient: FloraEsters - for reducing fine lines and dryness SHOP OUR CONCEALERS   3. Illuminator: One of the essentials to creating a glowing make-up look is an illuminator. They are usually easy to use and provide a natural, subtle luminosity to the skin. Illuminators come in liquid, cream or powder form. We recommend: Soft Focus Illuminator Soft Focus Illuminator - Key Results: Adds an instant, gorgeous sheen to skin Can be used as a base or applied over make-up Key Ingredient: Colloidal Oat Extract - soothing and moisturising This versatile liquid illuminator can be used on its own, or mixed into a primer or liquid foundation, and applied to the face or across shoulders to give an instant touch of radiance. If using on its own simply use fingertips to apply across the area you’re wishing to accentuate until the desired glow is achieved. SHOP OUR ILLUMINATOR    4. Foundation: Selecting a foundation for creating a glowing, natural make-up look can be down to a couple of criteria. You should look for a liquid foundation that provides a radiant finish, and a hydrating formula that delivers a light to medium coverage. Ideally, you don’t want to use a foundation that is too heavy or delivers a matte finish. What you’re trying to achieve is bright, radiant skin and for your beautiful, natural features to glow. We recommend: Liquid Mineral Foundation  Liquid Mineral Foundation - Key Results: Evens out the complexion Enhances skin radiance Helps fight visible signs of ageing Key Ingredient: Vitamin C - antioxidant, that brightens and restores radiance Lightweight with a sheer finish, the Liquid Mineral Foundation is composed of active natural Australian ingredients such as Vitamin C, Kakadu Plum and Lilly Pilly. INFLUENCER PROFILE: Brooke Hogan

Gorgeous Australian model Brooke Hogan’s career went gangbusters following her time on Australia’s Next Top Model. Her modelling career has seen her work both locally and internationally since, with brands including Myer, ASOS and Lorna Jane. Cut to May 2018 where she has amassed a staggering number of Instagram followers, and she’s attending Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (MBFWA) in Sydney for the first time. We caught up with Brooke whilst in Sydney for MBFWA, and chatted all things beauty, modelling and travel. Check out our interview below: Nude by Nature (NBN): Are you able to share a little about your career background, how you started modelling, and also about your experience on Australia’s Next Top Model. Brooke: I did my first photoshoot when I was about 15 years old which was for my Mum’s friends label. After I finished schooling I started modelling and I loved it. I signed with an agency and was working a bit whilst also working an admin job. When I was about 19, (not many people know this actually), I tried out for another TV show, similar to Australia’s Next Top Model and made it through to the last round but didn’t make it on to TV. From then on I was so determined to get where I wanted to be. I tried out for Australia’s Next Top Model and finally made it through. It was an amazing experience that I will remember forever and I absolutely loved it! It was challenging at times however I made some great friends and learnt SO much. It was a big confidence booster and it really got me out of my comfort zone. Australia’s Next Top Model launched my career and I feel so lucky to have been apart of the show. Since then I have modelled internationally as well as at home and have worked for some amazing brands. I have been modelling on and off for about 10 years now and I still love my job! NBN: MBFWA is happening in Sydney this week. Do you have any shows that you are really looking forward to attending, and ideas about what you’ll be wearing yourself? Brooke: This is my first MBFWA so I am really excited to see what it’s all about! There are a few shows I am really excited for; Camilla and Marc, Bianca Spender, We Are Kindred and many others. I love seeing the creativity and effort put into each and every show, its incredible. My stylist Jess has sorted all of my outfits for me so you’ll just have to wait and see! NBN: Are there any beauty or fashion trends that you’ve spotted that you think will be big in the next 12 months? Brooke: We have seen it on the runways overseas and seen it here in Australia a little bit also but I think coloured eye shadow is going to come back in. I am not sure how I feel about it or if I will embrace the trend but it looks like blue shadow is on its way back! NBN: Speaking of beauty, what do you think are a couple of the most important beauty products that every Aussie woman should own? Brooke: Sunscreen - it is so important to protect your face from the sun. Even though you may not see effects of the sun now, the damage done in your younger years shows as you get older. NBN: What are a few of your favourite Nude by Nature make-up products? Brooke: I am really loving the Flawless Concealer. I don’t like products that are too heavy or ‘cakey’ and I find the consistency of the Flawless Concealer is really nice and not too heavy under the eyes whilst also delivering good coverage! Also, I am terrible at my own liquid eyeliner however the Definition Eyeliner is so easy to use so I am loving that also! NBN: When it comes to saving time when getting ready, do you have any favourite beauty hacks? Brooke: I love eyeshadow that blends out and up towards the brow giving that elongated/cat-eye look. It can take some time to master it so if I am in a rush I put up a credit card or any card from the outer edge of my eye up to the end of my eyebrow and use a fluffy eyeshadow brush and use the card as a shield. NBN: When it comes to health and wellbeing, what are a few of your favourite, regular things that you love to do? Brooke: Drink lots of water and exercise. I feel and look my best when I am hydrated and active. Even if it’s not a daily ‘work out’ as such, I still make sure I get my body moving in some way - a quick walk, a stretch on the floor, anything to get my body going! Regular facials are also a must for me. With my job I am always having loads of make-up put on my skin which can sometimes cause breakouts and congestion. I take really good care of my skin and I support my everyday regime with regular facials. NBN: Traveling is a big part of your life. Do you have any favourite places in the world that you recommend to friends?   Brooke: My favourite places would be the Maldives and the Amalfi Coast - in particular Capri and Positano. I was in the Maldives for work and Capri/Positano for a holiday with my boyfriend. They are SO gorgeous and should definitely be put on your list of places to visit. NBN: And for yourself...do you have anywhere that you are dreaming about traveling to? Brooke: I really want to go to Japan! NBN: When it comes to social media, what is your favourite channel to scroll through? Brooke: I really like finding random profiles and pages to follow. I don’t have certain pages that I always go and look at but I like fashion accounts, iMeme accounts and also make-up inspiration accounts. NBN: Finally, for you home is Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. If you were chatting to someone visiting either for the first time, what would be a couple of your top places you’d recommend they check out? Brooke: I love travelling, but everyone who knows me knows that I absolutely LOVE home and in particular, the Mornington Peninsula. If you are visiting Melbourne I would recommend a visit down the coast to Sorrento. My boyfriend and I are currently building our house down there. It is the most gorgeous little seaside town with, lovely beaches, delicious food, great coffee, good shopping, walks, massages and it’s only an hour and a bit out of the city. Make sure you come visit Hotel Sorrento for some food and drinks - maybe we’ll bump into each other! All images courtesy of: Brooke Hogan

WHICH MAKE-UP BRUSHES DO I NEED?

When builders construct a house they need to use the right tools. Similarly, when you create your favourite make-up look, it’s important to use good quality make-up brushes to ensure the exact look and flawless finish that you’re after. Deciding on which make-up brushes to use can be tricky. Let’s face it, there’s nothing worse than the confusion felt when viewing multitudes of make-up brushes in a cosmetics store, and having no single clue what you need. Ultimately, you need to find what works best for you, according to the beauty products you use and looks you prefer to create. Our Pro Brush Collection includes a comprehensive selection of premium, expert make-up brushes. Best Results with: Sheer Glow BB Cream  Essential Collection Brush Set If you’re completely new to make-up brushes, and are thinking about buying a couple, it’s worth checking out our Essential Collection Brush Set which includes a collection of 7 make-up brushes encased in a faux leather zip make-up bag. The make-up brushes included are: Kabuki Brush Powder Brush Concealer Brush Eye Shadow Brush Eye Blending Brush Eye Definer Brush Lip Brush The collection is designed to provide everything needed to create a flawless complexion, contouring and to add colour and definition to both eyes and cheeks. When it comes to looking after your favourite make-up brushes, we recommend cleaning them using the following step by step process: 1)   Pour out a small amount of soft shampoo into a shallow bowl. 2)   Soak the tip of the brush and gently swirl, being careful not to wet the base of the brush. 3)   Rinse the brush under warm running water pointing downwards. Repeat steps two and three until water runs clear from the brush. 4)   Use a cloth to wipe the brush clean, reshaping bristles as needed. 5)   Lay the brush flat on a cloth until completely dry. In terms of frequency, it’s suggested to clean foundation and concealer brushes (that you use the most) every week. This will mean less chance of product build up and potential transfer of bacteria to your skin. Other make-up brushes you can instead clean a couple of times a month.

INFLUENCER PROFILE: Helen Chik

Helen Chik is a Sydney based fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogger and writer. She has established herself as someone who consistently creates inspiring, vivid and beautiful content on both her blog and social channels. So far this year Helen married, traveled to Bali and become a first time Mum, which she is loving - whilst also discovering all the fun and games involved with having a newborn. It means many things in her life have changed, and time management and finding a new balance to the daily routine are both skills she is continually working on. We caught up with Helen recently, and chatted about her favourite beauty products, travel and celebrating her first Mother’s Day. Nude by Nature (NBN): Are you able to share a little about your career background, and how you came to create your blog, writing and then social presence. Do you have any words of wisdom for anyone starting out today? Helen: I actually have a double degree in Finance and Actuarial Studies and spent about two years working in banking. It became obvious after a few months that the corporate world wasn’t for me and I started looking at a passion project to keep my mind stimulated. My first foray into blogging started straight out of high school but it only lasted maybe half a year before I had to drop it and focus on my studies. Fast forward five years and I decided to start it up again and see where it would take me. I love curating content and coming up with concepts for shoots as much as I enjoy writing. It made sense for me to combine it all and start a blog. I think having consistency and a clear style is important. Don’t feel the pressure to be emulating those around you and just start. I always say this to everyone, you really have nothing to lose if you try but you stand to lose a lot more if you don’t. NBN: Since becoming a Mum earlier this year, (HUGE Congrats!!), has your beauty routine changed or evolved? What are a few of your favourite time saving hacks when getting ready in the morning? Helen: Oh my lord yes! I’d be lucky if I can get through my shower without Jacob squealing for attention. I’ve always got a few key products that I know I have to use to look even half-way presentable for anything I attend. If you have these nutted out then you save yourself the grief of looking at your beauty drawer and not knowing where to start. So my quick routine is: Prep your skin - serum, facial oil and light moisturiser Prime your skin Then cover up those blemishes with an easy foundation (like Nude by Nature’s Natural Mineral Cover) Finish off with some bronzer and highlight   NBN: What do you think are a couple of the most important beauty products that every Aussie woman should own? Helen: I think skincare is important, and I see a massive difference when I take the time to prep my skin for the day versus nothing. The make-up just doesn’t sit as nicely when you haven’t taken the time to properly hydrate your skin. Every woman needs to have a go-to foundation (powder or liquid - same same, but different) and then a great bronzer and highlighter. A bronzer brings you to life and the highlighter brings out the glow. I’m also very picky when it comes to eyeliners because you want it to go the distance. NBN: What are a few of your favourite Nude by Nature products? Helen: That's an easy one. The mineral powder foundation and the Touch of Glow Highlight Sticks! I love anything that saves me time whilst making me look natural and glowing. All you need is the Natural Mineral Cover and a little highlight and you’re ready to tackle anything; even when your baby poops all over you! Actually, no amount of makeup will prepare you for that - but you get the gist. NBN: Mother’s Day is this Sunday! How are you planning on celebrating this special day - especially as it’s your first one! Helen: Well, my husband’s twin is up in Sydney with his wife and they’ll be meeting Jacob for the first time so we’ll probably have a nice lunch. In the evening we’re actually making it all about Jacob and celebrating his 100 Day with my family and friends. It’s actually something that Asians love to do instead of a one month. NBN: MBFWA is happening in Sydney next week. Do you have any shows that you are really looking forward to attending, and ideas about what you’ll be wearing yourself? Helen: Yes! It’s that crazy time, and this year I’ve got Mother’s Day, Jacob’s 100 Day and Fashion Week all together so my head’s a little scrambled at the mo. I’m looking forward to seeing the Macgraw show as they’re always a stand out favourite of mine because of how fun they make everything. We Are Kindred has some beautiful and feminine silhouettes so I’m keen to see what they come up with too! As for what I’m wearing - I have a few things planned but nothing concrete, however you can expect to see a fair bit of colour. NBN: You love to travel! Do you have any favourite places you suggest visiting in 2018? Helen: I love South America! Even though it’s been years since I was there - I’ve been dying to head back over there so definitely add that to the list. Peru and Bolivia are my favourites so far but I’ve only done a few countries! NBN: And for yourself, what’s on your own travel bucketlist? Helen: I want to go to South Africa and the Philippines so badly! They are a priority but I would also like to head back to the US again at some point during their summer to escape our winter. NBN: Do you have any tips when it comes to beauty products to pack when travelling? Helen: I honestly think my beauty products (toiletries included) always take up the most room and weigh the most! I’ve learnt to buy myself a small make-up bag and set myself the challenge to only take make-up that fits into that bag, and no more. I used to pack so much when I travelled thinking that I should because…you never know. Well, I do know now and that’s you never end up using those products, and then you have to lug them around everywhere you go! Stick to the bare essentials is what I suggest because who has the time to go through elaborate beauty routines when they’re travelling? I’d much rather spend that time outside and exploring. NBN: When you’re chilling out, what’s your favourite social media platform to scroll through? Helen: If you had asked me two years ago I would’ve said Instagram but these days I’m on Facebook surprisingly more. However if I really wanted to relax then I’d be off my phone because I spend wayyyyyy too much time glued to it. NBN: How about other blogs and social accounts or influencers that you follow? Helen: I love following travel accounts and blogs because it always give me the inspiration to get out and explore new places! It’s a little harder now with bub but it just makes it more fun to do my research and plan. My favourite travel accounts at the moment are @nickpescetto and @meg_legs. NBN: Can you let us know any of your objectives and plans for 2018? Helen: Umm..surviving motherhood and figuring out a balance between everything! I didn’t bother setting myself goals this year because Jacob has thrown my routine out and I just plan on taking each day as it comes. NBN: Lucky last question! As a Sydney local, do you have any secret places/cafes/restaurants/sites/exercise spots that you think are quintessentially Sydney, and enjoy sharing whenever someone comes to visit? Helen: I love doing the Bondi to Coogee coastal run but you have to be game to do it because it’s a 15km return trip! In terms of cafes - The Grounds is a must because everything is so photogenic there. The Butler has a great view of the city, and is also so gorgeous inside. One of my favourite restaurants in Sydney is actually this place called Buffalo Dining Club - small and understated with amazing food! All images courtesy of Helen Chik.

5 QUICK MAKE-UP TOUCH-UP TIPS

Picture this. You’ve been working hard all day, deeply focused and happily crossing things off your “To Do” list. At 5pm you get a Facebook message from one of your best friends. She’s keen to go out for dinner and drinks. It’s exactly what you feel like. You decide where to meet, and look in your bag. You need to touch up your make-up. Yet, there’s nothing. What do you do? Tip No. 1 - Create a Touch-up Kit: Whether you’re a natural make-up person, or you prefer to be bolder with the looks you create, there’s bound to be a few key beauty essentials that you love to have at your fingertips. Creating a make-up touch-up kit that fits in your bag, and doesn’t add too much weight, is a great way to ensure you’re always ready - for any event. A small pack of tissues or oil blotting papers is a good starting point to have in your kit to blot away any excess oil or shine. You may also like to consider travel size make-up products, if you are really conscious about total weight, or for example you are using a clutch. If you’re looking for inspiration regarding a kit that includes travel size make-up, check out our Complexion Essentials Starter Kit. As well as incorporating our Natural Mineral Cover, Liquid Mineral Concealer and Travel Brush, the kit includes a handy make-up case. Complexion Essentials Starter Kit  Tip No. 2 - Concealer: If there’s one product you definitely should include in your touch-up kit, it’s concealer. They are great for disguising dark circles under the eyes, pigmentation or for covering any blemishes. You’ll instantly look brighter and refreshed. A stick concealer like our Flawless Concealer is a great option. It’s long wearing and feels like a second skin thanks to natural pigments that act seamlessly with the complexion. It’s dermatologist tested, and suitable for sensitive skin, plus available in 8 shades. Flawless Concealer  Tip No. 3 - Eyes: If your eyeshadow has creased during the day, blot it away and then smooth any residual shadow on your eye. You may like to then use a pressed eyeshadow like the Natural Illusion Pressed Eyeshadow which is richly pigmented and has a silky smooth texture that is easy to apply plus comes with a mirror compact. Then you may consider using both a liquid eyeliner and mascara, or just one of these products to add depth and definition to your eyes. Our Definition Eyeliner is available in two shades, imparting rich colour and intense definition with a single application. The formula goes on smoothly without smudging or feathering. Our recommendation with a mascara touch-up is not to go too crazy with re-applying because the last thing you want is to create any clumps, or to make your eyes look too dark. The Allure Defining Mascara intensifies, lengthens and separates your lashes. Composed of active natural ingredients including Candelilla Wax, the formula remains soft and flexible, allowing the application of multiple coats without flaking and is enriched with Pro Vitamin B5 to condition the lashes over time. Our Eye Collection  Tip No. 4 - Highlight & Bronze: If you’re going from day to night, adding a little bronzer or highlighter to your complexion will help make your skin look radiant and luminous. It’s a wonderful pick me up, just make sure to apply carefully - none of us wants to end up looking like a glowing clown! Products that are easy to use and multi-purpose such as our Touch of Glow Highlight Stick that comes in three iridescent shades (champagne, rose, bronze) can be used as a highlighter and eyeshadow, plus the rose shade works nicely as a blush too. The glide-on cream-to-powder texture is composed of active natural ingredients, including the native Australian Kakadu Plum, known for its abundant Vitamin C content. The Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer is composed of light-reflecting micro particles and it’s feather-light formula blends easily into the skin, allowing for a customised tan with a semi-matte finish - leaving you with a gorgeous natural sun kissed glow. It also comes with a mirror compact which is perfect for quick touch ups. Touch of Glow Highlight Stick Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer Tip No. 5 - Foundation: Depending on the time of the day when you are doing a touch up, and degree to which your original foundation is still visible, you may elect to go for a setting or a foundation powder. If you’re looking to help control shine and extend make-up wear, the Pressed Mattifying Mineral Veil is a winner! It’s feather-light formula helps to control oil and shine, while disguising fine lines and wrinkles. The fragrance-free formula contains 100% naturally derived ingredients including Kakadu Plum, Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter to perfect your complexion. If you’re looking for a foundation option (rather than a setting powder), the Pressed Mineral Cover is a perfect addition to your touch-up kit. It’s a pressed mineral powder foundation that delivers medium to full coverage with a matte finish, for up to 8 hours, it’s formula is non-drying and it comes with a compact mirror. We hope you give these tips a big thumbs up, and that they help ensure you’re ready for any future touch up situations!
