Eyebrows are said to be one of our most prominent facial features, and when done right, they help to shape the face, make the eyes seem larger and show emotion. Now it’s time to create a couple of brow looks! First up is a Natural Brow. Check out our step by step tutorial below using the Precision Brow Mascara. Step 1: Brush lightly through hairs in an upward motion using short, controlled strokes. Step 2: Repeat to build coverage and hold as required. Step 3: Give a final brush through using the tip of the brush and following the shape of the brow to instantly shape for natural definition. You may prefer instead to create a Sculpted Brow. Create the look with our Natural Definition Brow Palette. Follow the steps below: Step 1: Using the angled end of the small brush, draw a soft line to define the underneath of the brow to create definition and help shape the brow. Start from the inside corner to the arch and down the tail. Step 2: Apply powder to the brows in small strokes to mimic natural looking hairs. Repeat to build coverage as required to achieve filled and groomed brows. The two brow powder shades, can be used alone or blended together for a perfect customised colour. Step 3: To blend, brush through brows with the spoolie end of the small brush following the shape of the brow. Step 4: Finish the look with the luminous highlight shade, apply on the brow bone using the Smudge Brush to further brighten and accentuate the brows. The final brow step by step tutorial is a Bold Brow, created using the Defining Brow Pencil. Follow the steps below to create the look: Step 1: Hold the pencil up to the eye as a guide and use the sharpened tip to faintly mark the three key points of your brow; start, arch and end. Step 2: Apply pencil directly to the brows in small, feathery strokes to mimic natural looking hairs. Create a natural outline, and then fill in and build coverage as required to create perfectly filled and defined brows. Our Versatile Beach Glow Liquid Highlighter
The Beach Glow Liquid Highlighter has gained many fans since it launched, who are loving the multitude of looks they can create with this versatile highlighting product. Infused with light reflecting pigments, the lightweight Beach Glow Liquid Highlighter glides onto the skin for a luminous finish. Highly pigmented, it can be used alone or mixed with your favourite liquid product for an all-over glow and it's suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. INTENSE HIGHLIGHT - Apply and blend using fingertips in a patting motion. Continuing on from the above, we've also created different tips about specific looks for both face and body you may want to try. HIGHLIGHTER - Apply a small amount directly onto cheekbones, brow bones, nose bridge and/or cupid’s bow and blend quickly using fingertips or 15 Blending Brush to soften edges for a seamless finish. Apply and blend quickly with fingertips in a patting motion for the most intense highlight. EYESHADOW - Use alone as a gel-eyeshadow. Apply a small amount and blend with 15 Blending Brush. Use as a base colour and follow with powder eyeshadow like the Shimmering Sands Loose Eyeshadows. TIP: Can also ‘set’ with Sheer Light Pressed Illuminator. For a full-coverage, striking ‘liquid metal’ eye look, use the doe foot applicator to apply gently onto eye lids – try not to rub or overwork. Blend edges with 15 Blending Brush. TIP: Wait for it to dry before opening eye to prevent creasing. Use to highlight the brow bone, blend with 15 Blending Brush. Use to highlight inner corners of the corner/sides of bridge of the nose, blend with 15 Blending Brush. LIPS - To emphasise and highlight lips, lightly trace outer edges of cupids bow with 02 Sunshine, blend with fingertips. Use on top of lip colour to add a holographic definition or to create a frosted look. Creates almost an ombré effect, especially when applied to centre of the lips. For more understated look, add underneath lipgloss for a subtle shimmer base. BODY - Mix into your favourite body moisturiser for a subtle all-over glow. How To Make Your Matte Make-up Last All Day
Written by Guest Contributor: Tara MacInnis It’s such a pain to spend precious morning time putting on make-up that’s supposed to minimise shine and cover imperfections, only to find that it’s stopped doing its job by 10 a.m. Few things are worse, in my opinion. Getting your make-up to stay put through a busy day is a feat, even if you have perfect skin. Add oiliness to the mix, and even the most long-wearing make-up will still move. That’s because, as your pores produce sebum, that sebum can break down your make-up. If you’re using skincare formulated for oily complexions, that’s a great start. But, how you apply your make-up, and what make-up you’re using can really seal the deal. Read on for four steps and product recommendations to take your make-up routine to that stay-all-day level. Step 1: Prime Properly prepping your face for your make-up beyond your favourite moisturiser is a really common oversight, and it’s a shame, because priming can make a huge difference. When you add a layer of primer underneath your make-up, you’re creating a more even base for your foundation, and your foundation won’t have to work as hard to stay – a primer can even do a bit of the coverage for it, too. When you’re choosing a primer, stay away from anything with silicones. Silicones will clog your pores and dehydrate your skin, sending that sebum production into overdrive, something you don’t want if your skin is already oily. The Airbrush Mineral Primer has zero silicones, and it’s formulated with Vitamin C and antioxidants, so it’ll treat your skin while it preps it for what’s next. Step 2: Conceal After you’ve let your skin absorb your Airbrush Mineral Primer for about five minutes, identify any areas with redness or imperfections, and grab a concealer. Go for one that’s long-wearing and has ingredients that’ll absorb any of that excess oil. The Flawless Concealer is just the ticket, with bamboo powder to minimise shine, and antioxidants to keep your skin looking its best. Dot a light layer on to those imperfections either right from the tube, or with your ring finger, blending well. You’ll get longer wear if you start with a thin layer and then build, rather than applying lots immediately. Focus on your t-zone, and under your eyes if you’re trying to cover dark circles. Bonus: If your concealer works hard enough, like the Flawless Concealer does, you’ll be able to get away with less foundation. Step 3: Cover The most important order of business when you want a matte finish that’ll last is finding a foundation that’s oil-free, like the Flawless Liquid Foundation. It makes sense – one that’s made with oil will add to the shine you already have. Along with being oil-free, the Flawless Liquid Foundation is also fragrance-free, long-lasting and loaded with ingredients like bamboo powder and antioxidant-rich Kakadu Plum that treat your skin while leaving behind a smooth, satin-matte finish. As with your concealer, apply foundation lightly, and then layer on more later if you need more coverage. You can use your fingers, but liquid foundations are usually easiest to apply with a liquid foundation or buffing brush. It’ll help you to get into all the crevices of your face, and get a super even, perfectly blended finish. Tip: For best results, when applying the Flawless Liquid Foundation, start with the Airbrush Mineral Primer, and then apply a small amount of the Flawless Liquid Foundation (1 pump) to the back of the hand. Apply and blend the foundation with a Buffing Brush, using quick circular motions to ensure an even application. Coverage can be built from medium to full as required, we recommend using a stippling (dabbing) action to apply additional coverage. Step 4: Set This step is almost as important as priming, and definitely shouldn’t be skipped. So, dust the Pressed Mattifying Mineral Veil all over your face, focusing on the areas that tend to get shiny through the day, like your nose and forehead. Be sure to use more of a stippling motion rather than dragging the brush across your face, because that dragging could make your make-up move. The finishing powder’s Kaolin Clay will do that oil-absorbing work, while shea butter nourishes your skin, keeping it hydrated so those sebum-producing pores don’t overdo it. An alternative is the Mineral Finishing Veil. It’s also formulated with Kaolin Clay to absorb excess oil, and its light-reflecting micro particles will help reduce the appearance of fine lines. Dust it over top of your make-up to add an extra hit of shine-control, and to help your make-up last. You’re set for the day! But, if you’re still worried about movement, we feel you. So, toss that Pressed Mattifying Mineral Veil in your bag for midday touch ups, and remember to pat when you re-apply, no dragging allowed. The best part? Every product used in this routine is cruelty-free, enriched with 100% natural ingredients and made without synthetic ingredients or preservatives. Jesinta: For me, any great beauty look starts with good skin. Whilst I have a very strict skincare regime I stick to, I also drink lots of water and ensure I am including lots of things in my diet that assist me in glowing from the inside out. Radiant skin always shines through, (even with make-up), so I always place a big emphasis on prepping my skin before applying any make-up. I also think, less is more, make-up should enhance your natural beauty, not cover it up. NBN: Do you have a favourite Nude by Nature make-up product and why? Jesinta: I love the Nude by Nature Natural Mineral Cover Foundation for everyday wear. It provides just enough coverage over your moisturiser, yet is lightweight and perfect for an off duty look. I was expecting it to be incredible but everything was so much better than I could have ever imagined. It was like being on another planet and no videos or pictures could ever do it justice. It's a small country. We drove around it in 10 days, however the scenery and landscape changes so drastically and sometimes all in the space of five minutes. We would be driving, and it would be sunny and clear skies, then five minutes later it was snowing! Iceland was definitely one of the most interesting and memorable places I have ever travelled to. Jesinta: I try to use Instagram just for work purposes, and try not to spend too much time on it. Perth native Kiara King is a style, fashion and travel content creator and influencer. Since starting her blog Lion In The Wild, post graduating from university, she has worked hard to grow and evolve both the blog and her social channels, to now being one of Australia's most popular for her authenticity and the beautiful content that she shares across all her channels. We have collaborated with Kiara a few times in the past year, and caught up with her after she returned from a recent trip to New York. Check out our conversation below: Nude by Nature (NbN): Are you able to share the background on how you first started Lion In The Wild, and your plans for 2019. Kiara: I was working full-time, having just graduated from university with a Bachelor in Creative Advertising Design and, truth be told, Lion in the Wild was born out of pure weekend boredom as a personal creative project. Before long, it unexpectedly took off and has developed into the platform it is now. We have a number of very exciting projects and partnerships planned for 2019, as well as launching our new venture, In the Wild Creative, which you’ll be hearing more about very soon! Nude by Nature (NbN): Congratulations on your recent marriage! That must make 2018 quite an extraordinary year for you. Are you able to share any other unforgettable moments from the last year? Kiara: Marrying my best friend/love of my life/lifetime sidekick undoubtedly tops the list for 2018, which will forever go down as the most unforgettably amazing year (so far). I was fortunate enough to travel to 18 amazing countries, which included swimming with sharks in the Maldives and hanging out with (real) lions in the wild in South Africa. To say it was special would be a huge understatement. I’m still pinching myself! Nude by Nature (NbN): What do you think are a couple of the most important beauty products that every woman should own? Kiara: A hydrating, flawless base with SPF, and a moisturising lipstick or lipgloss. For me, it’s all about healthy, glowing skin and products with amazing natural ingredients. Nude by Nature (NbN): What are a couple of your top beauty hacks? Kiara: Two of my go-to beauty hacks are: 1) Applying highlighter to the inner corners of my eyes, which not only makes your eyes pop, but gives the illusion of 8-hours sleep. 2) For perfect beachy waves without using heat products, after washing and towel drying my hair, I twist small sections of hair and leave them overnight. When I wake-up, I comb them through and am left with super easy and healthy waves. It’s the best time saver! Nude by Nature (NbN): A couple of our biggest points of difference as a brand are that all our make-up products are enriched with 100% natural ingredients, and we are proudly cruelty-free. Do you think people are becoming more aware of what’s in the make-up and hair products that they use, and are re-thinking their product choices? Kiara: People are becoming increasingly savvy and discerning when it comes to the brands they purchase from, and cruelty-free, natural ingredients from ethical companies are at the top of the list in which beauty customers buy - myself included. It’s the way of the future and it’s a long time coming. Nude by Nature (NbN): Are you able to share with us a few of your favourite Nude by Nature products, and why? Kiara: Where do I begin? The Defining Brow Pencil and Precision Brow Mascara are daily favourites of mine since the collection launched (not a day has gone by without me reaching for one or the other). Kiara: I mostly find myself consuming digital media these days, but I truly miss the moments I used to spend reading magazines and books, so much so that I’ve begun reading my favourites again like Porter, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Grazia. If anything, I find print even more inspirational and valuable than before in this instantaneous world. Nude by Nature (NbN): Do you have a few favourite Instagram accounts, that you religiously follow? Kiara: Now this is going to be a tough one to narrow down. I currently can’t get enough of @leoniehanne for her creative style content, @ohuprettythings for her beauty photography and @isabellath for her authentic travel content. They’re all a must follow if you want constant inspiration! Nude by Nature (NbN): You love to travel! Are you able to let us know about a couple of your favourite travel destinations? Plus, do you have many travel plans for 2019, and if so, are you able to reveal what’s on your list! Kiara: Japan and New Zealand will be forever in my heart as two of my favourite travel destinations that I’ve visited more than I care to admit (I just can’t get enough!), but I also loved the Maldives, France and South Africa. As for 2019, we’ve just arrived home from a few weeks in New York City and depart for Dubai next week (exciting!), but we’re also hoping to see more of Australia this year, especially my beautiful home state, Western Australia. Nude by Nature (NbN): As a Perth local, do you have a few secret places that you recommend that visitors ‘must do’ when they’re in your hometown? Kiara: If you’re looking for iconic locations, no Perth trip is complete without visiting Kings Park for the best city views and Cottesloe, arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia. If you’re a foodie (or a coffee snob), then you should definitely head into Fremantle for a bite, which is home to the coolest cafes, restaurants and bars. If you want to do a day trip, then you’ll fall in-love with Rottnest Island for untouched coves, reefs and, of course, quokkas! And if you’ve got time for a weekend away (or longer), hire a car and go down south to my personal favourite, the Margaret River Region (a 3-hour drive from Perth), for world class surf, wine, cuisine and so much more. Can you tell I’m a little in-love with where I’m from? Nude by Nature (NbN): Final question! Do you have a favourite quote or phrase that motivates and inspires you in your daily life? Kiara: “Love what you do and do what you love.” - It’s a quote I’ve lived by in my adulthood, vowing to wake-up everyday excited for the day ahead, regardless of whether it be a weekday or weekend. As well as her editorial photography work for a diverse mix of clients, she created In Bed With a few years ago initially as a side hustle and one now that is a full time project with a dedicated community of loyal followers around the world. Visit the In Bed With blog, and you're immediately asked the question, "Who are you staying with tonight?" - it's an apt question to ask at a time when so many of us scroll for hours through our social media feeds filled with wanderlust dreaming of places we'd like to stay around the world. The In Bed With site and Instagram account are a gorgeous collection of images shot by Rhiannon during her travels and provide travel inspiration not only for where to stay, but also for new destinations to visit around the globe. We caught up recently with Rhiannon, and below you'll find the details of our chat: Nude by Nature (NBN): Can you share with us more about your background, your photography career, social media strategy and the decision to start your beautiful travel and lifestyle blog In Bed With. Rhiannon: I’ve been a photographer for over 12 years, shooting interiors, travel, food and lifestyle for publications and brands near and far. Throughout my career I’ve been lucky enough to travel extensively and this was really the inspiration to start In Bed With. I adore great interior design and have a huge love of travel, so curating hotels in to a blog just felt like a natural fit. To be honest, I started In Bed With as an offshoot to my work as a photographer, documenting beautiful hotels whilst on assignment photographing for my clients. But the social media aspect took off quickly because the audience was so interested to see inside beautiful hotels around the world. What started as a creative hobby soon turned into a full time project. Nude by Nature (NBN): In the past 12 months you’ve been all over the world! Can you share your favourite destinations from the past year? Rhiannon: There are honestly too many to name - both for the blog and for my clients. But my favourite from this year was renting a villa called L’Arancera Di Villa Grabau in Lucca (Northern Tuscany), Italy for a week with friends and family for my wedding. It was so relaxing, with great food, wine and cooking classes. And of course getting married! I also just returned from Yucatan in Mexico, which was unbelievable. Unlimited guacamole, colourful towns, incredible beaches and beautiful hotels. Nude by Nature (NBN): Do you have any favourite beauty hacks that you use when you’re travelling? Rhiannon: I keep a mist and facial oil stored in every suitcase and handbag when I travel. Keeping my skin hydrated is key - this makes me feel normal. Planes have a funny habit of making you feel yuck! I also carry a bunch of natural cleansing wipes - often I’m flying for 20 hours plus and these are great in lieu of a shower. Nude by Nature (NBN): What do you think are a couple of the most important beauty products that every woman should own? Rhiannon: A great sunscreen. As a traveller and someone who loves the Australian sun, it’s essential to protect against the premature ageing effects of sun damage. I love the Mornington Peninsula and pop down frequently to have lunch at Pt Leo Estate, taste wine at Crittenden Estate and stay at Jackalope or The Summer Residence. Peak wedding season is regarded as being from late Spring until early Autumn. Every wedding is special and filled with love, and ideally one that is remembered for a long time. Whether you’re the bride, in the bridal party or a guest, there are a few beauty tips which we think are pretty useful to remember for the big day. Weddings can be both a mix of day and night events, or just one, and tend to be big, fun days. Being prepared in advance is super important - not least if you are the bride! For pre-wedding skincare, if you’re the bride, it’s worth thinking carefully in advance about your daily skincare routine, and investing in regular facials - to ensure beautiful skin texture and appearance on the day. Plus, a few facials in the lead up to your wedding might be exactly what you need to have a nice relax!
